This release candidate is cut from the head of develop. The notes below are written relative to v0.12.0-rc1; the changes that make up v0.12.0 itself are described in the v0.12.0-rc1 notes, which are written relative to v0.11.0.
🚀 What's New
- Go 1.27.3 (#1925): the toolchain moves from Go 1.26.9 to Go 1.27.3, the current stable release.
go.modgoes togo 1.27.0/toolchain go1.27.3(no dependency changes),DockerfileandDockerfile.debugusegolang:1.27.3-alpine, and every CI pin (unit, lint, codeql, govulncheck, e2e, go-e2e, exit-certificate tool) is aligned to1.27.3.golangci-lintmoves to v2.15.0, which is required because v2.14.0 is built with Go 1.26 and refuses to lint ago1.27module. Two test-only%wwraps of*GRPCErrorwere fixed for the new Go 1.27printfvet check (GRPCErrorimplementserroron a value receiver, so wrapping the pointer defeatserrors.Is). - Bridge service docs: fee estimates exclude the L1 data fee (#1924):
docs/bridge_service.mdand the OpenAPI descriptions ofGET /bridge/v1/claim-fee-estimateandGET /bridge/v1/bridge-fee-estimatepreviously claimed that served chains never charge senders an L1 data fee. They now say the opposite for OP-stack destinations, state that the estimate does not include it, and give the measured magnitude on the Bali testnet (l1Feeof roughly 1.4k–2.6k wei on claim receipts for networks 82 and 85). Documentation and generated swagger only — no behaviour change: the estimator still pricesgasUsed × gasPrice.
⚠️ Breaking Changes
Config
No config changes in this release candidate.
API
There is no breaking interface change: no endpoint, query parameter or response field is removed, and every API change in this cycle is additive. #1924 only corrects documentation and generated swagger text.
Toolchain
Building from source now requires Go >= 1.27 (go 1.27.0 directive). Consumers pinned to an older toolchain must upgrade, or rely on Go's automatic toolchain download.
