🎪 Pre-Hamvention surprise drop! A hotfix for the VOACAP propagation panel plus a brand-new MeshCom LoRa mesh integration. Apologies — we also missed including all of our 26.3.0 updates on the last production release; they're surfaced again here.
Come visit OpenHamClock at Hamvention 2026, May 15–17 in Dayton, Ohio — Flea Market Booth #9518.
🐛 HOTFIX — VOACAP Was Going All Green at High Power
At higher transmit powers the Propagation panel was lighting every band green — the WASM prediction looked broken. The cause: your TX power and antenna gain were being counted twice (once inside the prediction engine, then again on top of its result). Now they're only counted once, so 1,000 W and 100 W produce the realistic difference you'd expect, and bands above the MUF stop pretending to be open. The dB margin shown next to each band still reflects your real power and antenna advantage.
🛰️ NEW — MeshCom LoRa Mesh Integration
OpenHamClock now talks to MeshCom, the LoRa-based VHF/UHF mesh network popular in Europe. Set up the new MeshCom plugin in rig-bridge and OHC will plot every node it hears on the map, list them in a tab with whatever weather or telemetry they're broadcasting, and let you read and reply to chat traffic right from the panel. Click any message for inline reply buttons, or type any callsign or group name into a free-text To field. Works with both direct rig-bridge and Cloud Relay. Translated into all 16 languages. Big thanks to Jörg (DO1HOZ).
✨ Also bundled
- Smoother
update.shon Pi and self-hosted installs — clean reinstall on every update so newly added dependencies always land. Thanks Jörg (DO1HOZ). - Tracked-satellite list audited — added AO-123 (ASRTU-1), SO-125 (HADES-ICM), QMR-KWT-2, plus several active weather sats. Removed dead/decayed birds. TEVEL NORAD IDs corrected per AMSAT. Thanks Michael Wheeley.
- Behind-the-scenes grid locator cleanup (closes #951) — single shared Maidenhead module across server and frontend with field/square/subsquare/extended-square precision. Thanks Michael Wheeley.
- Propagation panel first-load crash fix — no more brief red error on cold boot before the timezone resolves.
- Lightning panel — small console-log typo corrected (#963).
🔁 Re-surfaced from 26.3.0 / 26.3.1
These shipped to Staging but never reached a production release on their own:
- VOACAP-Grade Propagation Predictions (P.533) — the real ITU-R P.533 model running directly in your browser via WebAssembly
- Winlink Gateway Map Layer — 4,800+ gateways color-coded by mode
- Satellite Next-Pass and Ending Countdown
- DX News from three sources (DXNews.com, DX-World, NG3K)
- Custom TX Power input (0.1–2,000 W) in the Propagation panel
- Local Sunrise/Sunset in the Propagation panel
- Faster Weather Load
- Satellite TLE Failover Hardening
- Cloud Relay Credential Overhaul (security) — existing Cloud Relay users will need to re-run "Connect Cloud Relay" in Settings → Rig Bridge once after this update
- Public-Site Security Tightening (presence pins, health endpoint, Dial-A-Moon SSRF)
- Server-Side Memory Leak Closures
- Cleaner Browser Console (debug-level logging by default)
- Security & Dependency updates (rig-bridge → Node 20, Vite 6, Vitest 3)
