You can now review entire test plan and even debug it in JMeter GUI with test plan method showInGui()! Check the new user guide section.
Additionally, a toolbar with stop button has been added to visualizers (resultsTreeVisualizer & dashboardVisualizer) which allows to stop the test plan execution if any particular condition is detected by the user, without closing the visualizer window.
