Features and Changes

Live Archives save as HLS by default now

Previously, when archiving a live stream the ffmpeg process saved as mpegts. This caused some issues with crash resiliency and audio/video discontinuities from Twitch's end. Now the live archive process saves as a fragmented mp4 in a HLS stream. Some important information about this:

• Provide better general reliability for live archives
• Converting to MP4 (in the 'Video Convert' task) is still the default. If you wish to skip the HLS to MP4 conversion, enable the "Save as HLS instead of MP4" in Admin > Settings.
  • If you are saving as MP4, during the 'Video Convert' task, you temporarily need 2x the storage of the HLS video while it converts.
• The "Watch while archiving" feature is enabled by default now as it's being archived as HLS, thus the setting has been removed.

VideoJS Migration

The old player, Vidstack, is end of life. The developer has moved over to VideoJS working on the new VideoJS 10 release. The player has been migrated to VideoJS. The general feel/layout is the same.

Improved Notes

Videos notes have been improved. The edit field has been moved to overlay the chatbox when active.

Timestamps in notes show as "bookmarks" on the video player timeline.

Notes can now be searched using the advanced search syntax of notes:<query> like notes:cool moment.

Admin Overview Page Overhaul

The Admin > Overview page got an overhaul with new graphs and metrics.

Replace archive processing flags with lifecycle status

Thanks to @Xitee1

The generic queue "processing" status has been replaced with more descriptive status:

• queued
• running
• finalizing
• completed
• failed
