ZenNotes 2.50.3: more room for notes and smoother everyday editing

Hide the window title bar, open links in other apps, and enjoy cleaner capture, sidebar dragging, and daily rollover.

✨ Features

  • Optional window title bar (#754). Turn off Window title bar in Settings → Appearance → Chrome to reclaim the 44-pixel main title row while keeping the sidebar, tabs, and editor. The preference applies across open vault windows and is saved in config.toml. Press Cmd/Ctrl+, to restore it. Available on macOS, Linux, and Windows, including tiling setups such as Hyprland.
  • Links to other applications (#764). Enable prefixes such as zotero, obsidian, or vscode in Settings → Editor → Links. Ordinary Markdown links then open the installed app. Disabled prefixes offer a settings shortcut instead of note creation; failed launches show an error.

🐛 Fixes

  • Settings tabs on one line. Equal gaps and matching end padding at normal widths. Narrow windows scroll horizontally while keeping full labels and the selected tab visible.
  • Quick Capture above fullscreen macOS apps. Open, write, save, and dismiss without leaving the fullscreen Space. Pinning retains its higher window level.
  • Complete sidebar previews. Dragging a partly visible note, folder, or asset shows the full row at either scroll edge.
  • Cleaner daily rollover. Only real unfinished work carries over. Empty placeholders in today's Tasks section are replaced while existing tasks, nested work, and other sections stay intact.
  • Plain bracket text. Text such as [EE] keeps its brackets and normal styling unless a matching Markdown reference definition makes it a link.

🎬 Demos

Watch all four demos on the website release page: optional title bar, application links and settings tabs, daily rollover and bracket text, and sidebar drag previews. Videos are also attached below. The sidebar demo combines app captures with an illustrated pointer path; the other demos use native macOS footage.

🧰 For contributors

All eight package versions and lockfile metadata are aligned at 2.50.3. Dependencies are unchanged. Built macOS checks cover the new interactions, and the packaged app was verified to launch as 2.50.3. Native Hyprland/Linux and Windows UI checks remain outstanding; platform renderer regressions are covered by tests.

Thanks to @SATBH and @shreesha-hegde for the feature requests, and everyone who reported the editing issues.

Local-first and keyboard-first, as always.
