v2.4.2 - Genre and studio badges that count what you watched
Genre and studio badges now count episodes, the composite genres TMDb gives
TV shows, and the many names one studio goes by. On a real server this
upgrade unlocked badges that people had earned long ago and never received.
Also: the Friends chat on phones, and a plugin card image that survives the
catalogue's crop.
Fixed - genre and studio badges missed most of what they should count (#154)
Contributed by @mattsigal in #154, his first PR here, with the per-item
counting added by @camarigor on top of it.
Three separate gaps, all in the same badges:
- TV episodes never counted toward studio badges. Jellyfin keeps studios
on the series, not on its episodes, and the plugin read the episode alone.
So It's Not TV, Auntie Beeb and Netflix and Watch only ever saw
movies. Episodes now take their series' studios, in live playback and in
the watch-history scan. - Composite genres never counted. TMDb gives TV shows genres such as
"Action & Adventure" and "Sci-Fi & Fantasy", and Action Hero,
Sci-Fi Scholar and Fantasy Forever matched only the exact names
"Action", "Science Fiction" and "Fantasy". A composite genre now counts for
each part, and "Sci-Fi" counts as "Science Fiction". - A studio's other names never counted. House of Mouse matched "Disney"
and nothing else, so "Walt Disney Pictures" and "Walt Disney Animation
Studios" earned nothing. Studio badges now match the studio as a whole word
("HBO Max" counts for HBO, "BBC Film" for BBC), plus "Home Box Office",
"British Broadcasting Corporation" and "Ghibli".
The watch-history scan also stopped dropping a series' genres from its
episodes; live playback had always inherited them.
One item counts once per badge, however many of its names match. A movie
listed under both Disney studios is one Disney item, and a show tagged both
"Action" and "Action & Adventure" is one Action item.
What changes when you update
- Progress jumps, and badges may unlock on the spot. Watches already in
your history start counting. On our own server, with 23 profiles, the
upgrade unlocked 11 genre badges straight away, and progress went down for
no one: one profile had watched 50 "Sci-Fi & Fantasy" episodes and still
showed 0 on Sci-Fi Scholar. - Custom badges match the same way. A custom studio badge now matches the
studio as a whole word, and a custom genre badge counts composite genres, so
a custom "War" badge now counts "War & Politics" shows. That is what most
setups want, but check yours if a badge depends on an exact name. - Studio credit for TV starts now. Episode plays recorded before this
update stored no studio, so the TV side of the studio badges counts from the
update on. Genres are not affected; episodes have carried their series'
genres since v2.1.0. - For existing history, a genre badge adds up every matching genre name, and
a studio badge takes its largest matching studio name. In the rare case of
one item tagged both "Action" and "Action & Adventure" before this update,
that item counts twice for Action Hero. New plays are always counted once.
Fixed - the Friends chat's message box sat behind the phone's navigation bar (#147)
Reported by @Roboatlas21, fixed by @camarigor in #149.
On a phone the Friends drawer was 100vh tall, which in Chrome on Android is
the height with the address bar hidden. While the bar is showing, the drawer
ran past the bottom of the screen, taking the message box behind the
navigation bar. The drawer now takes the height that is actually visible, and
the drawer and the Friends button both keep clear of the status and gesture
bars.
Checked on an emulated Android phone with a 48 px gesture bar: the message box
now sits 48 px above the bottom edge, where with the old rules it sat at 0,
under the bar.
Changed - a plugin card image that survives the catalogue's crop (#146)
Reported by @Roboatlas21, made by @camarigor in #148.
Jellyfin's plugin pages showed the README banner as the plugin's image, and
the card crops it to its middle, so the text was cut on both sides and the
trophy was gone. The card now has its own 16:9 artwork, with everything inside
the area the card always shows. The catalogue shows it already; an installed
plugin picks it up with this update.
