Changes
- Two players on ultrawide displays: on a display wider than 16:9, two-player races now widen too, where v0.8.0 and v0.8.1 kept them 16:9 with black at the sides.
- Each half of a split race fills its side of the frame, with a wider view.
- A Tag Race while the two hold hands fills the frame.
- The two-player On your Gear screen fills the frame.
- Each player's HUD moves to their own edge: the first player's rings, rank and speed on the left, the second player's speed and the map on the right. The time stays in the middle.
SFR_TWO_PLAYER_WIDE=0keeps the old 16:9 picture.
Everything else is as in v0.8.1. See v0.8.0 for the ultrawide release.
Validation
- Unit tests: CTest passed on Windows (151) and Linux (143). GitHub Actions builds passed on Windows, Linux, macOS and Android.
- Scripted two-controller Tag Races on D3D12:
- At 2560x1080 (21:9): On your Gear, the split race, holding hands and the pause menu.
- At 2560x720 (32:9): On your Gear, the split race and holding hands.
- A one-player Free Race at 21:9 looked the same as in v0.8.1.
- Windows package: race checks on D3D12, Vulkan, and D3D12 in a 21:9 window. Every pipeline was prepared, no shader was left untranslated and the save was left unchanged.
- Linux package: Vulkan start-up smoke test in WSL, all 455 pipelines prepared.
- AYN Thor: this release's Android 10+ APK prepared all 455 Vulkan pipelines and ran a race without errors at 59.8 fps. The APKs keep the existing signing certificate.
- Not tested:
- a two-player race other than a Tag Race;
- two players on Vulkan at an ultrawide size;
- a real ultrawide monitor (only windows of that shape).
