A test build. If the game closes on its own on Android, export the diagnostic ZIP afterwards (Settings → Game files → Export diagnostic ZIP): it now holds the system's record of the crash.
Changes
- Crash records in the Android diagnostic ZIP (#83, Issues #61 and #80): a crash in native code stops
game.logmid-way with no error, and a player can't runadb logcat. On Android 11 and later the diagnostic ZIP now hasexits.txt, how the app's last five processes ended (reason, status, time and description). When one crashed in native code, the system's crash record (exit-N-tombstone.pb) is included too, which shows where it stopped. An ANR adds its trace. The tombstone may contain local file paths. - From v0.6.5 (pre-release): index buffers the game leaves unchanged stay on the GPU (#81);
SFR_INDEX_CACHE=0turns that off.
Validation
- Diagnostic ZIP: the archive test passes, with an exit that has a tombstone and one that doesn't; both APKs carry the new export. It hasn't yet been exported on a device after a real crash.
- The game itself: the Windows, Linux and Android game programs are byte for byte v0.6.5's. On Windows, that build completed race checks on D3D12 (Frozen Forest) and Vulkan (Dolphin Resort), and on Linux a Vulkan startup check.
- Android: the APKs keep the existing signing certificate.
Downloads
- Windows x64: download and extract the Windows ZIP; run
FreeRidersRecompiled.exe. - Linux x64: download and extract the Linux archive; run
FreeRidersRecompiled. - Android 10 or later: prefer
android10-arm64.apk. - Android 9: use
android-arm64.apk. Android 9 and 10 don't keep crash records, soexits.txtstays empty there. - Android version code: 31. The companion licence archive applies to both APKs.
- Checksums:
SHA256SUMS.txt.
Use your own game disc image. No game data, private saves or test overrides are included.
Known limitations
- From v0.6.5: the index cache was checked on two courses on Windows; other courses, the World Grand Prix story and Android devices have not been played with it.
- Being investigated: the game closing right after it starts on a Motorola Edge 30 Pro (Issues #61 and #80), a crash in a race on a 4-core PC (Issue #64), and a character occasionally saying a winning line after losing (Issue #47).
- Relay Race: 2P vs 2P is not supported yet.
- Mali GPUs: only the graphics start-up has been checked on Mali GPUs.
- From v0.5.0: lighting has not been compared with the Xbox 360; no camera motion inference on Linux or Android; performance varies by device.
