Changes
- Controller air tricks now raise the jump rating. Turning the left stick spins the rider in the air and raises the jump's rating, as turning your body does with Kinect.
- Cause: the controller version reported the turn in half turns, so a whole turn counted as 2 instead of 360 degrees. That was far too small to reach any rating.
- It now reports degrees and keeps the running total the way the game's own trick detector does.
- Faster checked build (#38, by @knuckleslee, integrated through #41). Guest memory's fast path is taken once per generated function. This speeds up the checked debugging build (
-DSFR_DIRECT_MEMORY=OFF) by about 12%. Released builds use direct memory access and are unchanged.
How to do a high-rated jump with a controller
- Hold A to crouch and charge as you approach a ramp.
- While still holding A, start turning the left stick in full circles.
- Keep turning while you release A at the ramp's edge, and keep turning until just before you land. More turns give a higher rating.
Timing matters. The game only checks whether you are turning during the takeoff motion, about a quarter of a second, as it does for a Kinect player twisting while jumping. Starting to turn after you are already in the air does not count.
On a keyboard, A is Z or Space and the left stick is the arrow keys.
Validation
- Tests: CTest 141/141, including new checks that a whole stick turn reports 360 degrees and that releasing the stick keeps the turn so far.
- Windows package: completed race checks on D3D12 (Frozen Forest) and Vulkan (Dolphin Resort), with isolated saves and the shipped defaults.
- Linux package: passed a Vulkan startup smoke test in WSL.
- Android: the APKs keep the existing signing certificate and 16 KB-compatible libraries. This release changes only the controller trick detector from v0.5.0; the APKs were not raced on a device.
- Not checked automatically: the rating itself. Scripted test races do not take the rider onto a ramp.

Known limitations
The known limitations of v0.5.0 still apply: lighting not compared with the Xbox 360, split-screen two-player and full Grand Prix progression not verified with the new runtime, no camera motion inference on Linux or Android, and performance that varies by device.
