Changes
- Camera motion on Android and Linux (#305). Until now only the Windows package could play with your body through a webcam (Camera › Motion in the launcher). The Android APK and the Linux archive now include the same body-tracking models and runtime, so the same setting works there:
- Android: the game uses the phone's own camera. You choose which one in the launcher, for example the back ultra-wide. The phone asks for the camera permission the first time the camera is opened (the launcher's Test button does this). A device without a camera, such as a handheld, is never asked and plays as before.
- Linux: the game reads a webcam through V4L2.
- The APK is about 40 MB larger because of the models. Nothing changes unless you turn camera motion on.
Everything else is the same as v0.10.37.
Validation
- Body tracking on Android and Linux: the same four camera pictures of a person were run through the Windows, AYN Thor (Android) and Linux builds. All three found the person in every picture, with joints within 0.1 pixel of Windows. Tracking a moving body took about 19 ms a picture on the Thor and 8.5 ms on Linux, fast enough for a 30 fps camera.
- AYN Thor, this release's APK (Android 10+):
- Dolphin Resort at full speed (60 fps, 0.999); lap 2 reached.
- Camera motion on: the Thor has no camera, so the game noted that and raced at full speed (0.999) without asking for a permission.
- Touch controls and Tilt to lean on: full speed (0.999).
- Threads on one core: race 0.991, a frame drawn in 17.6 ms on average.
- Linux archive: the game loads the bundled runtime from its own folder.
- Windows x64 package, Vulkan, with the validation layer: a whole Dolphin Resort race with no validation errors (speed 1.000, all 455 pipelines prepared).
- macOS (M1) package: a whole Dolphin Resort race at full speed (1.000), no MoltenVK errors.
- Android APKs: same signing key as before, so they install over 0.10.37.
- Unit tests: 175 passed on Linux, 183 on Windows. GitHub Actions builds and tests passed on Windows, Linux, macOS and Android.
- Not tested: playing with a real camera on Android or Linux (the Thor has no camera, and the Linux build machine is WSL); phones other than the AYN Thor; the iOS app (built and packaged only).
