Changes
- Newer Mali phones start again (#166, #169). On phones with a Mali-G715 or Mali-G720 GPU (for example the Pixel 10a and the POCO X7 Pro), the game closed while preparing its graphics, right after the launcher started it.
- Every vertex shader writes a clip distance, which these GPUs don't support. Their drivers crashed while compiling that write.
- On a GPU without clip-distance support, the shaders now go without it. The game's few user clip planes are then not applied there; nothing else changes.
- GPUs that support it (Adreno, desktop, Apple) are unaffected.
Everything else is the same as v0.10.1.
Not fixed in this release: the Huawei P30 Pro (Mali-G76) in #169 stops earlier, because its Vulkan driver lacks VK_EXT_scalar_block_layout and VK_KHR_buffer_device_address.
Validation
- AYN Thor (Adreno), this release's APK: Dolphin Resort at full speed (0.999, 60 fps), all 455 pipelines prepared; the clip distance stays on there.
- Windows x64 package, Vulkan with the clip distance removed on purpose (RTX 4090, Khronos validation layer): all 455 pipelines, a whole Dolphin Resort race (2,668 race frames), no validation errors, and the race looked the same.
- Pixel 10a (Mali-G715, Android 16) on Firebase Test Lab: with the clip distance kept, the graphics test crashed exactly as in the reports. Without it, all 455 pipelines were prepared and the test drew and read back frames correctly.
- Unit tests: 148 passed on Linux; GitHub Actions builds and tests passed on Windows, Linux, macOS and Android.
