Updates to PYNQ since the last release include:

• Upgraded Software

  • All overlays built with Vivado 2025.2
  • Linux kernel and build moved from Petalinux to AMD Embedded Development Framework (EDF) 2025.2 (Yocto Scarthgap)

• Productivity additions - software

  • Updated to Ubuntu 24.04 (Noble) based packages
  • Updated to Python 3.12
  • Updated to JupyterLab 4.6.1 and Notebook 7.6.0
  • PYNQ.remote supports .pdi bitstreams and Versal devices

• Productivity additions - hardware

  • Added Versal Adaptive SoC support through pynq.pl_server.VersalDevice
  • Added VCK190 board support with segmented configuration (golden reference design and base overlay)
  • Added Versal PL clock and PS GPIO support
  • Added PCAM5C Python driver and restructured the MIPI camera pipeline
  • ZCU104 INA226 power sensors enabled

• SD Build updates

  • Boot components (device tree, U-Boot, kernel) built with bitbake through the meta-pynq layer
  • Modular board self-tests driven by JSON manifests

• Deprecations

  • Support for Pynq-Z1 and Pynq-Z2 (Zynq-7000) boards is removed
  • Petalinux build flow is removed from SD Build
  • pynq.lib.arduino, pynq.lib.rpi, and pynq.lib.logictools are removed
  • pynq/metadata has moved to PYNQ-Metadata; the existing imports still work but will be removed in future releases
