VortX 0.3.8 Beta 11

The Beta 10 fixes release. Beta 10 introduced a batch of regressions, and this release works through every one of them. The catalog goes back to the reliable poster cards, the ERDB and fanart toggles stay off, your titles' logos come back, duplicate profiles are cleaned up, settings stop flipping back on you, and the Settings screen is now translated into every supported language. In-place update, nothing resets. This is a beta, so please install it and report anything off.

Fixed

  • Catalog cards are back to posters. The wide landscape cards in Beta 10 showed cropped, wrong, or blank art for any title that does not ship a real backdrop. Catalogs go back to the reliable poster grid where every title shows its own correct artwork. A proper cinematic treatment will come later, done with a reliable art source.
  • The ERDB and fanart toggles stay off. Turning them off used to flip back on within a second. A setting you just changed could be overwritten by an incoming sync from your account; that is fixed, so your toggle sticks.
  • Title logos are back on the hero and detail pages. They had dropped to plain text. With the toggles fixed you can turn the rating art off again, and the add-on logos return.
  • Duplicate and reappearing profiles are cleaned up. A second copy of a profile that a delete could not clear is now removed and stays removed, and a profile you delete no longer comes back from a sync. Note: your main account profile is intentionally never deletable (it is tied to your account); you can rename it instead.
  • Settings sync no longer fights you. The underlying cause behind the toggles and the profiles was a sync change that could re-apply your account's old values over a change you just made. The guard that protects an in-flight edit is restored, and an account with saved API keys no longer gets stuck never receiving updates.
  • The Settings screen is fully translated. Every Settings label is now localized across all supported languages instead of falling back to English.

Built-in player

  • Dolby Vision plays through the built-in player on Apple TV. Confirmed on device. The built-in player passes Dolby Vision through, so you do not need anything else for true DV.
  • A start-up fix for the AVPlayer path so it begins promptly instead of waiting on a buffer heuristic, with diagnostics to pin down any remaining edge case.

What we're working on now

  • Putting the focus on Watch Now first on the Apple TV detail page.
  • A proper cinematic catalog look, built on a reliable backdrop and logo source.
  • Ironing bugs and rough edges, especially in dashboard and web.vortx.tv

Install

Mac (.dmg, easiest, never expires). Download VortX-macOS-v0.3.8-beta11-ci.dmg, drag VortX into Applications, then clear Apple's one-time quarantine: open it once, click Done, then System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway (or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/VortX.app). Full guide: Install on Mac.

iPhone, iPad, Apple TV (sideload the IPA). The IPAs are unsigned, because VortX is open-source and distributed outside the App Store with no Apple Developer ID yet, so you re-sign them yourself with Sideloadly, AltStore / SideStore, or Signulous. No jailbreak. Full guide: Installing on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.

Each asset lists a SHA-256 checksum so you can confirm your download matches what the public GitHub Actions workflow built from this code.
