VortX 0.3.11 (build 161, pre-release). Build 160 plus the Dolby Atmos track-picking fix: the true-Dolby-Vision player lane now always maps the real multichannel audio bed, even when a stereo or commentary track is listed first in the file, so Dolby Atmos and full surround stop getting dropped on some 4K rips. Everything from build 160 is here too (Dolby Vision + lossless audio now plays as true DV with multichannel sound, receiver-real channel count, community sources through your own debrid/TorBox, AllDebrid/Premiumize native cache-check, VortX-account QR sign-in on Apple TV, add-on reorder, back-to-episode, back-to-top, Mac crash/freeze fixes, exact-source Continue Watching, iPhone/iPad download fix). In testing; this becomes the 0.3.12 release once verified on-device. In-place update, nothing resets.

New in build 161

  • Dolby Atmos and surround are no longer dropped when a file lists a stereo track first. A 4K Dolby Vision rip often carries several audio tracks: the real multichannel bed (frequently Dolby Digital Plus with Atmos) plus a stereo downmix or a commentary track, and some rips list a stereo or commentary track first. The true-Dolby-Vision player lane used to map whichever audio track came first, so on those files it silently played the stereo or commentary track and you lost Atmos and surround. It now looks at every audio track and maps the real one: it prefers the track with the most channels (a commentary or stereo track is one or two channels, the main bed is six or eight), and when two match it prefers the Dolby Digital Plus track, because that is the one that carries Atmos. So the movie's main Atmos or surround bed plays, not a stereo dub. Files that already mapped the right track are unchanged.

Also in build 161 (from build 160)

  • Dolby Vision movies with lossless audio now play as true Dolby Vision. A 4K DV file whose only audio is TrueHD or DTS used to fall back to HDR10, because the true-DV lane cannot decode those formats. That one track is now converted on the fly while the DV video passes through untouched, so you get true DV plus full surround. Anything the converter cannot handle falls back exactly as before, so nothing that plays today regresses.
  • The built-in player opens at your receiver's real channel count, so 5.1 and 7.1 content is much less likely to be quietly downmixed to stereo.
  • Community sources play through your own debrid or TorBox, every kind; native cache-check for AllDebrid and Premiumize; Apple TV signs in to your VortX account by QR; add-on reorder, back-to-episode after auto-play, back-to-top on Home and Discover, and account and add-on security hardening.
  • From build 155: the Mac crash and source-list freeze fixes, Play from start replays the same source, instant Continue Watching resume, the iPhone and iPad download fix, and true Dolby Vision mode-switching on Apple TV (Match Dynamic Range on).

See CHANGELOG.md for the complete list.

Please test

  • Dolby Atmos on a 4K Dolby Vision rip (the new fix): play a 4K DV movie that has a Dolby Digital Plus / Atmos bed AND a stereo or commentary track on your Apple TV with a receiver. Your receiver should now show Dolby Atmos or full surround, not stereo. If it still shows stereo, note the file so we can read its track order.
  • Dolby Vision + lossless audio (build 160): play a 4K DV movie whose audio is TrueHD or DTS. It should show DOLBY VISION on the TV, not HDR10, and play multichannel surround, and stay clean past a few minutes.
  • Multichannel on any file: play a 5.1 or 7.1 file and confirm your receiver shows the full channel count, not stereo. (Apple TV Settings, Video and Audio, Audio Format = Auto or Best Quality.)
  • Community sources (with TorBox): turn on community sources, sign in, open a popular title, confirm pooled sources appear and a cached one plays through your TorBox.
  • Apple TV, sign in to VortX: open Sign In, scan the QR with your phone signed in to VortX, approve; the TV signs into VortX and loads your add-ons and library.
