VortX 0.3.11 (build 160, pre-release). Build 159 plus the big one: Dolby Vision movies whose only audio is TrueHD or DTS now play as TRUE Dolby Vision with full multichannel sound, instead of dropping to HDR10. Everything from build 159 is here too: community sources that play through your own debrid or TorBox, native cache-check for AllDebrid and Premiumize, sign in to your VortX account on Apple TV by QR, add-on reorder, back-to-episode after auto-play, the back-to-top button, the Mac crash and freeze fixes, exact-source Continue Watching and Play from start, and the iPhone and iPad download fix. In testing; this becomes the 0.3.12 release once it is verified on-device. In-place update, nothing resets.

New in build 160

  • Dolby Vision movies with lossless audio now play as true Dolby Vision. A 4K Dolby Vision file whose only audio is TrueHD or DTS (the shape of most premium 4K rips) used to fall back to HDR10, because the player lane that carries true Dolby Vision cannot decode those audio formats and so gave up. That one audio track is now converted on the fly, while the Dolby Vision video passes through untouched, into a multichannel format that lane plays natively. So you get true Dolby Vision video plus full surround sound, where before you got HDR10 and a downmix. Files that already carry a compatible track are unchanged, and anything the converter cannot handle falls back exactly as before, so nothing that plays today can regress.
  • The built-in player now opens at your receiver's real channel count. On a multichannel HDMI or receiver route, the player asks the system for the full channel count up front, so 5.1 and 7.1 content is much less likely to be quietly downmixed to stereo. This helps every file the built-in player handles, not just Dolby Vision.

An honest note on the ceiling: no Apple TV app, including the well-known ones, can send lossless TrueHD or DTS-HD as an untouched bitstream to your receiver before tvOS 26, and Atmos height objects are lost once TrueHD is decoded. So the target here is true Dolby Vision video plus full multichannel audio on every file, which is the real, reachable win. A later build will add a Dolby Digital Plus output option so your receiver's display reads Dolby, using the same conversion that already runs.

Also in build 160 (from build 159)

  • Community sources now play through your own debrid or TorBox, every kind. Pooled torrent, usenet, and direct sources all surface and each resolves through your own account (torrent through your debrid, usenet through your TorBox), badged as cached and playing straight through, no add-on in the middle. Only a source's public identity is ever shared.
  • Native cache-check for AllDebrid and Premiumize, so a torrent your AllDebrid or Premiumize account has cached plays straight through your account like TorBox already did.
  • Apple TV can sign in to your VortX account by QR, not only Stremio. Scan the TV's QR with your phone (signed in to VortX at vortx.tv, or open vortx.tv/approve), approve, and the TV signs into your VortX account.
  • Reorder your add-ons in the app, Back after continuous play returns to the episode you are on, a back-to-top button on Home and Discover, and account and add-on security hardening.
  • From build 155: the Mac crash and source-list freeze fixes, Play from start replays the same source, instant Continue Watching resume, the iPhone and iPad download fix, and true Dolby Vision mode-switching on Apple TV (Match Dynamic Range on).

See CHANGELOG.md for the complete list.

Please test

  • Dolby Vision + lossless audio (the new fix): play a 4K Dolby Vision movie whose audio is TrueHD or DTS on your Apple TV with a receiver. It should now show DOLBY VISION on the TV, not HDR10, and play multichannel surround. Confirm it stays clean past a few minutes (not just the first frame).
  • Multichannel on any file: play a 5.1 or 7.1 file and confirm your receiver shows the full channel count, not stereo. (Apple TV Settings, Video and Audio, Audio Format = Auto or Best Quality.)
  • Community sources (with TorBox): turn on community sources, sign in, open a popular title, confirm pooled sources appear and a cached one plays through your TorBox.
  • Apple TV, sign in to VortX: open Sign In, scan the QR with your phone signed in to VortX, approve; the TV signs into VortX and loads your add-ons and library.
  • Mac: open a huge-source-list movie while sources load, open and close a few titles; no crash, stays responsive.
  • iPhone or iPad: download a large file with the screen locked; it should finish.

Install

Mac (.dmg, easiest, never expires). Download VortX-macOS-v0.3.11-b160-ci.dmg, drag VortX into Applications, then clear Apple's one-time quarantine: open it once, click Done, then System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway (or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/VortX.app). Full guide: Install on Mac.

iPhone, iPad, Apple TV (sideload the IPA). The IPAs are unsigned, because VortX is open-source and distributed outside the App Store with no Apple Developer ID yet, so you re-sign them yourself with Sideloadly, AltStore / SideStore, or Signulous. No jailbreak. Full guide: Installing on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.

Each asset lists a SHA-256 checksum (SHA256SUMS-ci.txt) so you can confirm your download matches what the public GitHub Actions workflow built from this code.
