VortX 0.3.11 (build 154, pre-release). A stability and playback pre-release over build 153: it ends the Mac source-list freeze that could force you to quit the app, makes Continue Watching and Play from start begin on the exact source you expect, lights true Dolby Vision on Apple TV, and fixes iPhone and iPad downloads that failed with a storage or file-creation error. In testing; this becomes the 0.3.12 release once it is verified on-device. In-place update, nothing resets.
Fixed in build 154
- On Mac, opening a Settings screen after watching something no longer crashes the app. Playing a title and then opening a Settings page such as "VortX account & sync" could crash on Mac (a window-toolbar conflict). Found and fixed by testing on device.
- The Mac app no longer freezes or force-quits while a title's source list loads. On a popular title with a thousand or more sources, the app rebuilt and re-ranked the entire source list on the main thread several times a second as sources streamed in, which could lock the window hard enough that you had to force-quit it. The whole list is now assembled and ranked off the main thread and published once per real change, so the window stays responsive and keyboard navigation keeps working while sources load. A rare crash risk, where changing a source filter in Settings during that rebuild could race the ranking, is fixed in the same pass. iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.
- Play from start replays the source you were watching, never a different one. Starting a movie over from the beginning used to re-run source selection across every add-on and could jump to another source. It now restarts the exact same source from 0:00. Watch Now and picking a source yourself are unchanged.
- Continue Watching resumes instantly when you come back soon. A resume re-fetched a fresh debrid link on every play, a short wait before the player appeared. If you resume within about twenty minutes of last playing, the still-valid link is used immediately so playback begins at once; older resumes re-fetch as before, and a dead link still falls back to a fresh source.
- Downloads on iPhone and iPad no longer fail with a false "not enough storage" or a cannot-create-file error. A nearly finished download that resumed was checked against its full size instead of the little that still had to be written, so it failed for storage with plenty of space free; and a download that completed while the device was locked could not create its file. Both are fixed, so large downloads finish even overnight with the screen locked.
- Dolby Vision now switches your Apple TV into its Dolby Vision mode, not just HDR10. Even when a true Dolby Vision stream was playing, the player path that carries real Dolby Vision never asked the TV to light its Dolby Vision mode, so the TV stayed in HDR10. It now requests Dolby Vision for those streams and returns to your default mode afterward. Turn on Match Dynamic Range in tvOS Settings, Video and Audio, Match Content. On Mac, Dolby Vision plays as system HDR, which is the ceiling there.
- Removing an add-on now clears its sources right away too. A deleted add-on disappeared from your add-ons list, but the sources it had already loaded kept showing in open source lists until the next load. Deleting an add-on now clears its sources from every source list immediately.
- Community (Singularity) sources render inline, sortable with your other sources. The duplicate pinned block above the source list is gone on every platform; the community group now flows through the ranked list like any add-on and sorts with your chosen order.
Everything from build 153 is still here: the Add-ons screen memory fix, the Apple TV add-on-list scroll and reliable remove, the Dolby Vision watchdog on Apple TV, forced subtitles by their real flag, out-of-date-sync deletion tombstones, and the diagnostic-log clear-on-export. See CHANGELOG.md for the complete list.
Please test
- Mac: open a popular title with a huge source list. It should stay responsive and never freeze or force-quit, and keyboard navigation should keep working while sources load. While a list is loading, toggle a source filter in Settings, Streams and confirm nothing crashes.
- Play a movie, then use Play from start. It should restart the same source from the beginning, not switch to a different source.
- Resume a title you were watching a few minutes ago. It should start right away.
- iPhone or iPad: download a large file, including leaving one running with the screen locked. It should finish, not fail with "not enough storage" or a file error.
- Apple TV: play a true Dolby Vision file (including a Profile 7 Blu-ray remux) with Match Dynamic Range on, and confirm the TV shows Dolby Vision, not HDR10.
- Remove an add-on and confirm its sources also disappear from an open source list.
Install
Mac (.dmg, easiest, never expires). Download VortX-macOS-v0.3.11-b154-ci.dmg, drag VortX into Applications, then clear Apple's one-time quarantine: open it once, click Done, then System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway (or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/VortX.app). Full guide: Install on Mac.
iPhone, iPad, Apple TV (sideload the IPA). The IPAs are unsigned, because VortX is open-source and distributed outside the App Store with no Apple Developer ID yet, so you re-sign them yourself with Sideloadly, AltStore / SideStore, or Signulous. No jailbreak. Full guide: Installing on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.
