Third Windows alpha. Still a tester build. Not a store listing.
Hold Right Alt and talk. The words land where you were typing. Audio and models stay on this PC.
What testers get in this cut
- Settings save as you go. There is no Save Changes button. A short toast confirms each write.
- Custom Vocabulary. Names and jargon, one per line or commas. Whisper treats that list as a hint, not a lock. It stays visible even if the active engine cannot take a prompt.
- Hold is hold. Right Alt starts on the first press and stops when you let go. A key Windows keeps repeating no longer starts and stops the take. Left Alt is not Right Alt.
- Power. Pause while listed apps are running. Pick a running app; each pick becomes a chip. Empty list means off. Idle unload is Never, or 5 / 15 / 30 minutes / 1 hour. Never keeps the model in RAM.
- Parked state. The tray turns slate when the model is unloaded or paused. Dictation says why: a watched app, or RAM saved after idle.
- Models. Smaller cards, download as an icon, activate with a checkbox. Engine and language filters stay on one line with search.
- Debug and About. GPU and logs live on Debug. Debug logging stays off until you turn it on. About has family links, Discord, X, email, and a button to file an issue.
- History can stop saving new takes. Older rows stay until you clear them.
- Nightly. Want today's
maininstead of this cut? Use the nightly. Same unsigned NSIS and MSI. Prefer this tagged alpha if you want the last cut we named.
The NSIS and MSI are unsigned. Windows will say the publisher is unknown. That is expected. More info, then Run anyway if you trust this GitHub Release. vocawin.com points here.
NSIS is a current-user setup. MSI is the wizard. Use one.
Open Models to download an engine. Whisper Tiny is the usual first pick.
If something breaks, open an issue. Discord is discord.gg/t6muquAJbm.
