Fixes from your reports since 0.1.0.3, lower GPU memory use, and a few launcher additions.
New
- Update in place. Update installs the new release for you (Windows installer, AppImage), checked against the release's SHA256SUMS.
- Import save data in an installed game's menu: from a Quest over USB (developer mode) or from a copy of its Android/data folder. It overwrites the game's current saves in Venture after keeping them in a backup.
- Add a game you own by its store link when Meta cannot list your library, and installs and updates now check ownership one game at a time, so very large libraries work.
- Quit game button on a running game's page; the game saves and closes as on a Quest.
- Menu from both stick clicks (Settings > Runtime) for controllers whose menu button the PC runtime keeps for itself, such as Valve Index.
- Interface size (Settings > Appearance), with larger small text by default.
- Choose the drive a new game installs or imports to when you have libraries on several drives, in the same dialog as Add to Steam; Show game data opens a game's Android/data folder (for homebrew ports).
Fixed
- Meta sign-in failing with "HTTP 500" on accounts with many games. Sign-in no longer needs the library list; a library Meta cannot list is retried and explained, with Refresh library.
- "Unable to verify license" (Ghost Town and others) when Meta's library query fails.
- "locale not supported" when importing or connecting a headset with non-English letters in a folder on PATH.
- Black screen in Vampire: The Masquerade - Justice with SteamVR on AMD GPUs.
- Assassin's Creed Nexus freezing on SteamVR (Linux) when the game shows many panels.
- Games installed on a drive other than the system drive no longer copy their data files (several GB) into AppData at launch, which filled the system drive and stopped the game with "Could not save local file". Copies left there by 0.1.0 are removed.
- Batman: Arkham Shadow stuck at Begin New Game on imported copies. An import now also refuses a game file that was cut short before it reached the PC, and names it.
- Resident Evil 4 fades, Asgard's Wrath 2 at high resolution, Creed: Rise to Glory, Pinball FX, PILO on the Oculus runtime, IMMERROCK, Unreal movie playback (Galaxy's Edge intro), Puzzling Places downloads, homebrew ports such as Galaxy Quest.
- Linux: a closed KWallet now asks for its password at start instead of Venture showing you signed out; Meta sign-in popups and security checks, Flatpak sign-in and folder opening, NVIDIA without headless surfaces, OVRPlugin/Unreal titles.
- ACE stopping at launch ("Java application launch failed").
- The Climb stopping at launch, and The Climb 2 closing when its tutorial loads.
- Batman: Arkham Shadow language downloads (Options > Audio) not starting.
- Asgard's Wrath 2 stuck at its first screen in languages other than English: games now download their language packs (Korean, Chinese, Japanese, ...) when they ask for them.
- When SteamVR fails to start a game's session, Venture now says to restart SteamVR instead of showing an error code.
- A game that closes because it needs a Meta account now says so and how to sign in.
- An import that keeps the saves already on this PC now says so.
- Custom artwork you set in Steam for a Venture game is kept; adding another game no longer puts Venture's artwork back.
- "Games will appear in Steam after it restarts" no longer shows at every start when Steam already lists them.
Performance and memory
- Less GPU memory for every game that ships compressed textures (Batman: Arkham Shadow about 0.3 GiB less).
- Game textures are now stored compressed (BC7, a quarter of the size) by default, so games that filled 8-12 GB GPUs (Resident Evil 4 Mercenaries, Batman: Arkham Shadow, Asgard's Wrath 2) fit. Compress textures in Settings > Runtime: Always (default), Automatic (only once a chosen share of GPU memory is in use, 50% by default) or Off.
Debug reports
One-click reports now include headset, eye field of view, audio device, display rate, the game's asset files and the Android classes it needs, plus where a crash happened (the driver or layer it was in), the Java errors a game ran into, and how GPU memory grew while playing.
