This update was originally meant to come out somewhat quickly to try and address the map crashes (again), but I ended up focusing on other projects until recently. Despite that, quite a few nice things made it into this update.

Changes since 1.9.1: Features:
  • New experimental option: Gradual refill from E-Tanks. When grabbing an Energy Tank, you will be granted 100 energy immediately, and then gain 1 energy per frame until reaching full. This health gain will be interrupted if you take PvP damage.
  • The hatchling will now be spawned automatically when it was grabbed by another player.
  • The Omega Suit (the orange suit from the end of Fusion, when you get Ice Beam) will now only appear in SA-X mode.
  • Ported PvP damage numbers and hit-sounds from SA-X Duels. Thanks to Xander for telling me which parts of his code to steal.
  • Removed the gelatin crystals slowing the SA-X down from chasing Fusions through the hatchling caves. Further tweaks may be made if this causes the SA-X to easily attack Fusions, but before this nobody ever chased Fusions through the Queen room.
  • Added a server option to force players to have unique colors, as long as 16 or less are connected.

Fixes/Tweaks:

  • Spectators can now pause the game with Escape.
  • Health and ammo will no longer be synced between teams.
  • Moved map drawing code back into a group of scripts instead of all being in a single script. This is how it was before 1.9.0, and I'm hoping that by keeping them each in their own scripts, it will help dodge the vertex buffer crashes.
  • Only draw the shortcut map tiles when shortcuts are actually enabled.
  • Patched up a couple small memory leaks.
  • F4 no longer toggles the display of names, only stopping music.
  • Fixed a common crash that could happen when getting sent to the map dimension as a spectator.
  • Majorly re-worked how the logic for ending the game works.
    • This should fix showing that Fusions won a match when they lost after grabbing the hatchling, as well as getting sent back into the credits after skipping them in co-op.
  • Update the list of dead players much more often to try and fix de-syncs, causing the Fusion counter to be incorrect.
  • Fixed the fake lava in the middle Omega room not drawing at the left edge of the screen.
  • Fixed a save softlock related to the missile shortcut into deep A3 before bombs.
  • Re-worked version checking, the version is no longer sent as part of your name and separated by only a comma.
    • This will cause older versions to get kicked for a buffer overflow, rather than version mismatch.
  • SA-X can no longer be drained by larval Metroids during their invulnerability after reforming, to prevent annoying death-loops.
  • Fixed HUD elements drawing in the wrong place when the Metroid counter and/or map was disabled.
  • HP pickups will no longer always be big outside of SA-X mode.
  • Changed the A6 Meboid room shortcut from a bomb block to a Screw Attack block.
    • This was suggested as a way to force intent to use it, rather than it being opened for free by the power bomb everybody already places at the top of the room.

I'm really hoping that map/pausing related issues are back to the severity they were in 1.8.1, because if they aren't then I'm completely out of ideas for how to fix them.
