Dishonored VR 1.0.3

Alternate Frame Warping (AFW)

  • AFW is a new way of rendering the two eyes, and it is the big one for this release.
  • The game renders one eye per frame, and the mod rebuilds the other eye from depth, so the game does half the work for every frame you see.
  • It now looks very close to full stereo, with a massive performance boost: on our test PC it reached a full 144 fps where full stereo managed about 110, and DLAA went from 50-70 fps to about 120.
  • Pair it with DLSS Ultra Quality: no major performance cost and essentially no aliasing.
  • How to turn it on: Set the rendering mode in the launcher, or alternatively, press L3 + R3 in game, go to Display > Stereo rendering, and choose "Alternate frame warping (AFW)". It switches live, no restart needed.
  • Please try it and tell us how it runs on your setup. The default mode is unchanged for now, and you can switch back the same way at any time.

New

  • Launcher overhaul: a new dedicated Mods section that downloads and installs supported mods for you.
  • ReShade support: the launcher can install ReShade 6.8 for you, and Scroll Lock turns effects on and off in game.
  • Texture pack support: a new option that helps large texture packs load without running out of memory.
  • DLSS follows moving characters: an option that makes DLSS smear less on people, animals and boats.
  • Button mapping in the launcher: remap the controller before you start the game.
  • Subtitle readability: color, outline and background options for subtitles (ini only for now).

Improved

  • Your arms and weapon now use the same field of view as the world, so they show at their true size.
  • With DLSS on, the hands and weapon smear less when they move.
  • The field of view slider moved to the Display tab and the top of the Hands tab.
  • The launcher's rain option now reads "Rain overlay" (on = rain shown); it works the same as before.

Fixed

  • Fixed a crash that could happen after changing the resolution.
  • Fixed crash related to texture pack installation

Known issues

  • The mod's own spacewarp is currently broken. It will be improved in a later update; for now it is left in Debug mode only.
  • ReShade presets that need depth require the default (non-manual) ReShade mode.
  • Held objects can flicker with AFW rendering mode enabled.

Shout out to @Martysl1 for his patch that was integrated into this one!
