Mouse and keyboard now work from the title screen. With Mouse / keyboard mode on (launcher → CONTROLS), Enter or X passes "Press START" and WASD drives the menus; before, no key got past the title screen without a controller. The mouse aims, left click fires, right click locks on. Mouse look now follows mouse speed and starts just past the stick deadzone, so small movements turn the camera at any frame rate. The CONTROLS tab has a sensitivity slider and the key list; every key can be rebound in crackdown.toml (see SETUP.md).
Portable saves (new). Launcher → SAVES → Keep saves with the game copies your saves into userdata\ next to the game and uses them from there (portable.txt marks it). Turning it off goes back to Documents\crackdown; nothing is deleted.
Linux (Vulkan): large GPU resolves are no longer read back to the CPU every frame, matching Windows. This should help performance on Linux builds.
Docs: SETUP.md lists the keys, portable mode, and the 0xc0e90002 "This app can't run on your PC" error as a known issue (Windows Smart App Control blocks unsigned programs; no code signing is planned).
Not yet tested (reports welcome):
- Portable mode (saves copied to
userdata\, the game loading them, switching back). - Linux frame rate with the Vulkan readback limit (0019), and that sunlight still looks right there.
- The new mouse aiming feel: if it's too fast or slow, use the sensitivity slider and tell us the value you like.
Tested: Windows boot into the city and back out (unattended replay, same log as 0.3.2); keyboard Start and menu navigation on a PC.
No game data included; you must supply your own Crackdown (World multi-language) disc dump. Unsigned beta: Windows SmartScreen/Defender may warn; see SETUP.md.
Assets: CrackdownRecomp-beta0.4.0.zip and its .sha256 (used by the launcher's updater); crackdown.apworld and Crackdown.yaml for Archipelago (unchanged).
