What's new in 0.5.2 (an alpha for testers; sign up in #11): desktop alerts, a new Microsoft registration, and thanks to our testers.
- Desktop alerts. A reminder that falls due, and new mail in the Inbox of your own accounts while MailCraft is in the background, show as the system's notifications (Windows, macOS, Linux and FreeBSD). Only the sender and the subject are shown, never the message text; more than three at once become one. Click one to open the message. Turn either kind off in File › Options › Desktop alerts. On Windows they need the
.msiinstall, not the portable zip; on macOS the system asks once whether MailCraft may show them. - Sign in once more to Microsoft accounts. MailCraft now signs in with the project's new Microsoft registration, so a sign-in remembered by 0.5.1 or earlier is asked for again, once. In an organisation that approves applications centrally, the administrator approves the new one too.
- About › Testers thanks, by name, the testers who said yes to being credited. Sign up in #11.
Early alpha. The foundations are in place and tested, but much of what a daily mail program needs is not there yet, and most of the Microsoft 365 behaviour has only been tested against stand-ins. What works is in the README.

MailCraft keeps your mailbox in its settings folder and saves as you go; one window per mailbox. With a Microsoft 365 or Outlook.com account you sign in on Microsoft's page, and the sign-in is kept by the system's credential store (Windows, macOS, and the Secret Service of GNOME Keyring or KWallet on Linux). What works, and how far each part is from Outlook, is in the README and in docs/gaps.md.
The builds are not signed with a publisher certificate yet: Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper will ask before running them.
