TypeWhisper 1.1 Daily

An early Windows 1.1 build for existing Daily testers. This is a prerelease, not the stable release.

What's new

  • Rebuilt WinUI interface with a resizable Quick Launch, pinned commands and workflows, configurable shortcuts and context actions.
  • Setup wizard with inline engine/model selection, workflow templates and custom icons.
  • New profiles default to Ctrl+Shift for dictation. Previously saved shortcuts are preserved.
  • Local HTTP API, CLI and Raycast integration, plus account and cloud-folder sync support.
  • Dictation focus restoration, improved first-paste handling, and recovery after standby or reconnecting a microphone.
  • Select Stable, Daily or Release Candidate under Account & about, then explicitly check, download and restart to update. Unpublished WinUI channels are shown as unavailable; legacy app/plugin releases are excluded.
  • Plugins are downloaded on demand instead of bundled in the installer. The setup wizard installs NVIDIA Parakeet inline before model selection; other plugins are available under Integrations.
  • Smaller installer: removed unused WPF and host AI runtimes and duplicate CLI runtime files. The optional CLI uses the same installed .NET runtime as the app.

Installing this Daily

Requires Windows 11 build 26100 (24H2) or newer and the matching architecture of .NET 10 Runtime. Setup checks for .NET 10 and downloads and installs it when missing. The portable ZIP requires that runtime to be installed separately. Download the TypeWhisperDaily Setup.exe matching your architecture (win-x64 or win-arm64). ARM64 is cross-built and has not yet been validated on ARM64 hardware.

This installs alongside the previous TypeWhisper version. Close the previous app before starting the Daily to avoid competing shortcuts. Existing legacy installations do not automatically upgrade to this new package; install it manually. Installed WinUI builds can check for updates in Account & about or from the tray. Installing an update requires an explicit click. Stable and Release Candidate WinUI feeds must be published before switching to those tracks; all tracks must retain the TypeWhisperDaily package identity. Development and portable hosts cannot install app updates.

On first launch, when no WinUI profile exists, dictionary entries, snippets, workflows and transcription history are copied from the previous production profile. The old profile and installation remain unchanged. Existing WinUI profiles are never overwritten or merged automatically.

Settings, sign-ins, license credentials, plugins, models, audio archives and recovery recordings are not copied. History is imported as text. Complete the setup wizard and configure the providers you need. Legacy plugins do not load in the new host; portable plugin migration is still in progress. Calendar sign-in is not available yet.

A fresh installation needs an internet connection to download its first plugin and model. Previously installed portable plugins remain in the profile across app upgrades.

Testing and rollback

Automated logic tests and x64/ARM64 packaging checks pass before publication. Clean x64 installation on Windows 11 24H2 has been verified, including automatic .NET installation, cancellation/retry, repair and portable startup with the runtime present. ARM64 execution and migration from all historical profiles remain unverified. Please keep the previous installation while testing.

To return to the previous version, exit TypeWhisper Daily and launch your existing TypeWhisper app. Uninstalling the Daily does not remove either profile. Report problems with your Windows version, architecture and reproduction steps at https://github.com/TypeWhisper/typewhisper-win/issues.
