DeskBox 1.5.8 keeps DeskBox and Explorer at the same integrity level, and explains accurately when they can't be. Fully elevated desktops — company-managed machines included — no longer see the administrator notice, because drag and drop works there. When the notice does appear, it closes the elevated instance in one click and provides the steps to restart with normal privileges, including how to clear a shortcut's "Run as administrator" checkbox. One-click updates restart the app at the shell's own level, so an elevated machine no longer comes back as administrator after updating. When Explorer itself runs elevated, the app stays usable — the reveal hotkey and settings keep working — and diagnostics can now detect a shortcut-level "Run as administrator" flag.

The maintenance wave lands with it: Todo-widget drags no longer crash; switching groups no longer loses stacked-member icons; cutting a subfolder and pasting it into its parent no longer hangs; auto-organization rules stay enabled across restarts; a repeatedly crashing desktop no longer leaves DeskBox restarting in a loop at sign-in; an update-download failure no longer errors when another dialog is open; and an instance relaunched with normal privileges can be ended by Task Manager without elevation.

Highlights

• More accurate administrator notices. The notice now appears only when DeskBox runs above the shell. When it appears, one click exits the elevated instance and the notice walks through restarting with normal privileges — including how to clear a shortcut's "Run as administrator" checkbox. Autostart continues to restart silently with normal privileges. All 12 languages.
• Updates keep the shell's level. The updater restarts the app at Explorer's own privilege level whenever the shell offers a standard-user context, so machines that ran elevated no longer relaunch as administrator after a one-click update.
• Usable under an elevated Explorer. With Explorer running above DeskBox, the reveal hotkey and settings stay reachable, an explanatory notice replaces the untranslated failure box, and the rare fatal-startup message is localized with its diagnosed causes.
• Maintenance wave. Todo drag crash, stacked-icon loss on group switch, subfolder cut-and-paste hang, auto-organization rules being disabled by restart, logon restart loops on crashing desktops, the update-failure dialog collision, shortcut run-as detection in diagnostics, and terminability of relaunched instances.

Validation

• 5,508 tests passing (tests/DeskBox.Tests, x64), including the new integrity-asymmetry contract matrix (predicate, notice variant, updater guard with the fully-elevated-shell case pinned to inherit).
• Main-machine flows verified: elevated launch → notice (exit form) → normal restart with drag working; unattended elevated autostart → silent normal-privilege restart; taskkill from a standard shell ends the restarted instance.
• Store per-arch package audits passed (identity pinned, working tree fingerprinted).
