Reaper v3.4.4-beta — RT-BE86U

pre-release4 hours ago

v3.4.4 — AiMesh with a Reaper main router, the hostapd "-30" errors, quieter logs

Everything in v3.4.3 is included.

  • AiMesh: a Reaper main router could not upgrade its nodes, and nodes misreported the version.
Reaper's firmware scripts now follow the stock ones in the GPL tree. Stock ssl_webs_upgrade.sh treats
start_webs_upgrade 1 as "download and verify only" - the step AiMesh runs on every unit before it
flashes them; reaper_webs_upgrade.sh ignored the argument and flashed and rebooted the main router
mid-upgrade. It now downloads, verifies and waits for AiMesh's flash step. webs_state_info uses the
stock firmware-version layout (3006_102_8_Reaper_v<ver>) that the update notice reads; nodes showed
3.0.0.6.Reaper_v.... The firmware page takes the mesh path whenever nodes are registered (it was
forced off). The AiMesh page says AiMesh starts once the router setup is done and links the setup box.
The aimesh: onboarding log lines are throttled. Host test test_aimesh_interop.py.
  • WLC_SCB_DEAUTHORIZE error (-30) after a client left. The kernel log showed this pair after Wi-Fi
clients disconnected, most often when the router itself disconnected one (a Roaming Assistant kick,
for example). -30 is Broadcom's "not found": hostapd was asking the driver to de-authorize a client the
driver had already removed. When the driver reports a disconnect, hostapd no longer sends that request,
at the three places in hostapd that did; Broadcom's hostapd already skipped removing the station in
that case. Owner box: 9 such errors per boot window down to 1; a disconnected client reconnects with a
fresh key handshake and no error. Host test test_hostapd_driver_ind.py.
  • "RADIUS: starting accounting session" on every connection, with no RADIUS configured. hostapd logged
it before checking for an accounting server; nothing was ever sent. It is logged only when an accounting
    server exists. Host test test_hostapd_accounting_log.py.
  • USB: every NAS app restarted once per partition. A disk with two mountable partitions, or two disks
at boot, stopped and started Samba, FTP, the media server and UPnP twice. Each mount or unmount now
starts a 3 s settle window and only the last one restarts the apps. Host test test_nasapps_settle.py.
  • Samba restarted on every WAN event - twice with the WireGuard server on. Open SMB sessions dropped
on each lease change or PPPoE reconnect. Samba now restarts only when SMB over the WAN is on or br0's
IPv6 addresses changed; the WireGuard hook, which regenerated an identical config, no longer restarts
    it. Host test test_samba_wan_restart.py.
  • QoS page: the engine cards. Plain chips are readable instead of looking switched off; every card
names the accelerator first (the Bandwidth Limiter turns it off and now says so); Classful shows its
optional download cap; Traditional shows that it shapes both directions with classes. Host test
    test_qos_card_chips.py.
  • Header tooltip: "Details: System Log" pointed at a log that holds nothing while the LAN name check
works; it now says failures and recoveries are recorded there, translated in all 25 languages (it was
    English everywhere). Host test test_landns_tooltip_text.py.
  • Diagnostics v1.3.39. Section 4c reads DNS Director per network and says which networks the global
mode does not reach; section 10 reads hardware QoS on the port it really shapes (and says when there is
none); section 16 probes every gateway of a multipath route; section 5 names resolvers by kind. Host
    test test_diag_sanitizer.py.
  • CI: the build container shares the runner's network, so it resolves names the way the runner does
(one job of 18 lost its DNS and failed in seconds).

Two flashable images: + AI Advisor (default) and Standard (noMCP, all AI components compiled out entirely). Flash the *_nand_squashfs.pkgtb via Administration > Firmware Upgrade.

This is a beta release. Its filename carries _BETA and the router reports the same string on the dashboard and the About page, so you can always tell which channel a flashed image came from. Stable releases carry no marker.
