To play: download ng2recomp-v1.0.9-win-amd64.zip below, unzip it
anywhere, run ng2.exe and point it at your own copy of Ninja Gaiden II (a
disc image or an extracted disc folder) and, if you have them, your DLC
packages. The zip holds the executable, the runtime, the Visual C++ runtime it
needs, the controller database and the texture tools, and no game assets or
data of any kind. The executable contains the game's code in translated form;
without your copy of the game it does nothing. Updating an existing install:
unzip over it; game\, dlc\, user\ and your settings are never touched.
Fixed - the settings menu still forced the full redo v1.0.8 had fixed in the tool
v1.0.8 taught the texture tool to continue an interrupted run, but the menu
kept a rule of its own: a pack marked incomplete greyed "Redo textures already
in the pack" ticked and ran the tool without the only-missing flag, so the
first run after v1.0.8 was still a full redo. The menu now forces a redo only
when the pack was made with other settings; an interrupted pack continues with
the textures still missing, and the button counts only those.
Added - a settings path may be relative to the executable's folder
texture_path, game_path and dlc_path in ng2_settings.cfg are taken
relative to the folder ng2.exe is in when they are not absolute. One folder
holding the game, the DLC, the profile and saves, and the texture dump and
pack can be moved to another drive or PC and keeps working, with no visit to
the setup screen.
Everything since v1.0.6 is included: the red-mist chapter transition fix, the
texture-pack content hash, the bundled Visual C++ runtime, Escape quitting in
under a second, and the resumable texture run. Every issue and its fix:
