To play: download ng2recomp-v1.0.8-win-amd64.zip below, unzip it
anywhere, run ng2.exe and point it at your own copy of Ninja Gaiden II (a
disc image or an extracted disc folder) and, if you have them, your DLC
packages. The zip holds the executable, the runtime, the Visual C++ runtime it
needs, the controller database and the texture tools, and no game assets or
data of any kind. The executable contains the game's code in translated form;
without your copy of the game it does nothing. Updating an existing install:
unzip over it, or python tools/make_release.py --update <your install folder>
from a source checkout; game\, dlc\, user\ and your settings are never
touched.
Fixed - a texture run that stopped halfway redid every texture
A 4x AI run that died part-way (a full disk) left the pack marked incomplete,
and the tool treated that like a pack made with other settings: the next run
would have redone all 22,026 textures and rewritten the 104 GB already made.
An interrupted run now continues with the textures still missing when the
pack's scale, upscaler and strength match. A pack file whose size does not
match its own header (a write cut short) is redone rather than handed to the
game. The settings menu says so.
Worth knowing: a 4x pack is raw RGBA, about 7 MB per 1024x1024 texture; the
whole game at 4x runs to well over 100 GB.
Everything in v1.0.7 (Escape quits in under a second) and v1.0.6 (the red-mist
chapter transition fix, the texture-pack content hash, the bundled Visual C++
runtime) is included. Every issue and its fix: docs/ISSUES_AND_FIXES.md.
