To play: download ng2recomp-v1.0.10-win-amd64.zip below, unzip it
anywhere, run ng2.exe and point it at your own copy of Ninja Gaiden II (a
disc image or an extracted disc folder) and, if you have them, your DLC
packages. The zip holds the executable, the runtime, the Visual C++ runtime it
needs, the controller database and the texture tools, and no game assets or
data of any kind. The executable contains the game's code in translated form;
without your copy of the game it does nothing. Updating an existing install:
unzip over it; game\, dlc\, user\ and your settings are never touched.
Fixed - pressing F9 twice quickly could crash the game
F9 switches the texture pack during play. A path change makes the GPU plugin
clear its pack tables at once and drop the texture cache at the end of the
frame; a second press inside that window flipped the path back while the
first clear was still pending, which crashed the Fable II port that shares
the plugin. A press within 1.5 seconds of the previous one is now dropped and
logged as "F9 ignored: the pack is still switching".
Everything since v1.0.6 is included: the red-mist chapter transition fix, the
texture-pack content hash, the bundled Visual C++ runtime, Escape quitting in
under a second, the resumable texture run, and relative settings paths for a
portable folder. Every issue and its fix: docs/ISSUES_AND_FIXES.md.
