Fixes from a second pass over the widget layer, and a way to support the project.
Two ways to get it
Installer: Aero.Dock_1.3.2_x64-setup.exe. Per user, no admin rights.
Portable: Aero.Dock_1.3.2_x64-portable.zip. Unpack it anywhere and run Aero Dock.exe.
Windows will show a SmartScreen box either way, because the build is not code signed. Click More info, then Run anyway.
A stuck drag could stop the desktop taking clicks
Worth knowing about if you have been using widgets.
Widgets share one window stretched across the desktop, and Windows is told which parts of it are real so clicks in the gaps fall through to whatever is behind. While you drag a widget that restriction has to come off, or the pointer would slip out of the widget mid-move and drop it. The release put it back.
If that release never arrived, because focus moved to another window or the pointer capture was lost, nothing put it back, and the overlay went on swallowing every click on the desktop until you moved a widget again or restarted. The region is now restored whatever becomes of the pointer.
The same symptom had a smaller second cause. 1.3.1 resized the overlay when the desktop changed shape but never recalculated which parts of it were solid, so after a resolution change the region could describe a desktop that no longer existed. That half is finished now.
Also fixed
- Right-clicking a widget dragged it across the desktop. Only the primary button moves one now.
- Prose in settings wrapped by breaking words in half. The rule suited the long file path it was written for and nothing else, and paths have their own.
- Corrected what the widget code says about its own coordinates, which matters to anyone taking the multi-monitor work further.
Supporting Aero Dock
There is now a way to put something toward continued development, in settings, in About, and in the tray menu.
Aero Dock stays free. No paid tier, nothing held back, no prompt when it launches and nothing that asks twice. If it is useful to you as it is, that is genuinely fine.
Still true
Multi-monitor and scaled displays are handled in physical pixels and should be right, but I have still only tested a single 1080p screen. The weather widget has no place search, so you type coordinates.
