HDR to SDR v3.1.0

What's new

Color depth

  • 10-bit output — free for everyone. Choose 10-bit output per queue item; HEVC sources are preserved as HEVC output.
  • 12-bit output — new Pro-only option (CPU encode only), selectable alongside 10-bit on a per-file basis.

H.265/HEVC Support

  • Free for all users, as H.265 uses an mp4 container. Now H.265/HEVC encoded videos will not be encoded in H.264 and will instead be directly encoded back to H.265/HEVC.

Dolby Vision

  • The app now detects Dolby Vision sources (via ffprobe's DOVI configuration record) and shows a "Dolby Vision" tag in the video info bar.
  • Pro: full container-aware audio passthrough is preserved for DoVi sources.
  • Free: DoVi sources downmix to 2-channel stereo AAC audio.
  • Profile 5 (IPTPQc2) sources are automatically routed through libplacebo tonemapping — even with the GPU toggle off — since the standard zscale path renders a green/purple color cast on this profile.

GPU acceleration

  • GPU tonemapping (libplacebo / Vulkan) is no longer a Pro-only feature — it's available to everyone.

Updates

  • The in-app update dialog now includes a link to the release changelog alongside the download link.

Fixes

  • Pro upgrade messaging now correctly mentions the 12-bit requirement.
