PS5SX2 2.00 (build vk-285-139)
New
- Frame generation (experimental, on the settings page under Display, or per game). On a 120 Hz TV a 60 fps game is shown at 120 and a 30 fps game at 60. It only runs while the game's frame rate is steady, and the FPS box counts the frames your TV gets.
- Multi-disc games.
(Disc 1)/(Disc 2)images, or an.m3ulist, are one game on the shelf. L3 + R3 + Right swaps to the next disc (change the combo in the Controls tab). - Cheat discs (GameShark, CodeBreaker, Action Replay). Pick the disc image once under All games → Discs → Cheat disc, then switch on Start from the cheat disc. Every game then boots the cheat disc as disc 1; swap to your game when it asks for it.
- Change disc from the settings page while a game runs, to any image.
- Game and BIOS folders picked on the console: Square → R1 → Folders, for USB drives, extended storage and M.2.
- NFS shares (experimental): play games straight from a PC or NAS. Shares are added and edited on the shelf, with the shelf's own keyboard when the system one doesn't open.
- Hide games from the shelf (Square → Hide from the shelf), and show them again from the sheet for all games.
- Patch and cheat downloads from the Square menu.
- Per-game hardware fixes, for example for Kingdom Hearts.
- 8x resolution for the PS5 Pro.
- Overlays / bezels:
overlays/default.png, oroverlays/<serial>.pngfor one game. - RetroAchievements challenge icons.
.bin/.imgimages, ELF homebrew and the Host filesystem.- A Fast boot switch and the PS2 system menu.
Faster
- Games that draw on the CPU run much faster: Call of Duty 2 and 3, Barnyard, Cricket 07, Jak 3, Driv3r, Sonic Gems Collection and more. The Software renderer too.
Fixed
- No BIOS: the shelf says so first, and a zipped BIOS unpacks itself.
- Splashdown's crash, damaged CHDs are marked as damaged, "Failed to initialize GS".
- The display filter no longer flips back in a running game. Gabominated's patches download again.
- Random "file does not exist" errors. RetroAchievements sign-in says why it failed.
In PS5SX2-vk-285-139.zip: the same layout as 1.9. PPSA99203/ goes to /data/homebrew/ (eboot.bin, sce_sys/, sce_module/libc.prx), PCSX2/ goes to /data/. Changed since 1.9: eboot.bin, sce_sys/param.json (version 2.00, and the 120 Hz modes frame generation needs), NOTICE.txt (the source commit and the new credits) and THIRD-PARTY-LICENSES.txt (AMD FidelityFX SDK and libnfs). Every other file is byte-identical.
Updating from 1.9 or older: the PS5SX2 Installer does it for you. By hand: close PS5SX2 and replace /data/homebrew/PPSA99203/eboot.bin and /data/homebrew/PPSA99203/sce_sys/param.json. Keep your /data/PCSX2 folder: your settings, memory cards and save states are in it.
