PS5SX2 1.9 (build vk-285-130)

New

  • RetroAchievements (softcore). Sign in on the shelf with L1 + Square. Unlocks pop up like PS5 trophies: the badge, the title and the trophy sound, and the platinum sound when you master a game. Each game's list is in its Square menu (Achievements tab, L2 / R2), and the running game's is on the settings page. Unlocks sent while the connection drops are retried, and going back to the shelf waits up to 5 seconds for any still being sent. Your password is never stored, only a sign-in token. The popups go through your jailbreak's ELF loader (port 9021); without one they're plain notifications.
  • HD texture packs from the shelf. Press Square on a game, go to HD texture pack and press Cross. About 340 games have a pack in archive.org's PCSX2 HD Texture Packs collection. It downloads in the background, unpacks into one file, switches texture replacements on for that game and pops up when it's ready: Ratchet & Clank 3's 1.3 GB pack unpacks in about a minute. A download a game interrupts carries on when you're back on the shelf, and Triangle twice cancels it or deletes the pack.
  • The PS2 network adapter is on for every game, through the PS5's connection and its DNS. Revival servers can still need their own DNS server and a DNAS bypass: see their guides. Switch it off for a game with Network adapter in its Square menu or on the settings page.
  • A roomier Square menu and a new sign-in screen. L2 / R2 stop at the first and last tab.
  • Translations: better French, Portuguese (Portugal) and Latin American Spanish, and everything new is in all 9 languages.

Credits

  • Gabriel Fonseca (gbfonseca), for the RetroAchievements groundwork this builds on.
  • RetroAchievements and its rcheevos library, and the makers of the PCSX2 HD Texture Packs on archive.org.
  • Big thanks to Mihawk: PS5SX2 runs on a modified version of his Vulkan driver.

In PS5SX2-vk-285-130.zip: the same layout as 1.85. PPSA99203/ goes to /data/homebrew/ (eboot.bin, sce_sys/, sce_module/libc.prx), PCSX2/ goes to /data/. Changed since 1.85: eboot.bin, NOTICE.txt (the source commit and the new credits) and THIRD-PARTY-LICENSES.txt (rcheevos, libarchive, Mbed TLS and Mozilla's root certificates). Every other file is byte-identical.

Updating from 1.85 or older: the PS5SX2 Installer does it for you. By hand: close PS5SX2 and replace only /data/homebrew/PPSA99203/eboot.bin. Keep your /data/PCSX2 folder: your settings, memory cards and save states are in it.
