PS5SX2 1.85

PS5SX2 1.85 (build vk-285-128)

Fixed

  • Need for Speed: Most Wanted no longer crashes about a minute in (1.7 and 1.8; 1.6 was fine).
  • Gran Turismo 4: no more whole-screen flashing with the hardware renderer.
  • Both came from a build problem in 1.7 and 1.8: two parts of the hardware renderer read the wrong data, which also broke other games' built-in fixes. 1.85 is built from scratch, so other games that ran worse in 1.7 or 1.8 than in 1.6 may be fixed too. Please report any that still do.
  • Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 (fan mod): shadows and effects line up at higher resolutions. It now gets Budokai Tenkaichi 3's fixes.
  • TimeSplitters: Future Perfect: the automatic "Don't wait" switch for GPU readbacks leaves this game on Accurate. Don't wait breaks its textures and adds input lag.

Performance

  • GTA Liberty City Stories (60 FPS patch): locked 60 at 6x on a PS5 Pro, even at the heaviest spots (47–53 fps there in 1.8).
  • GTA San Andreas and Vice City (USA): Instant DMA is built in, so there's less CPU work per frame.
  • Games that loop while they wait for the next frame or a transfer no longer burn CPU time on it (Vice City's 60 FPS patch lost about 2 ms a frame there).

Settings tips

  • GTA San Andreas with the 60 FPS patch: EE cycle rate 180% (Performance tab).
  • GTA Vice City with the 60 FPS patch: EE cycle rate 300% (180% gives 58–60 fps).
  • NBA Street Vol. 2 on a regular PS5: 3x resolution, anisotropic filtering 4x or off.
  • TimeSplitters: Future Perfect at 6x still dips in big fights; a lower resolution helps.

In PS5SX2-vk-285-128.zip: the same layout as 1.8. PPSA99203/ goes to /data/homebrew/ (eboot.bin, sce_sys/, sce_module/libc.prx), PCSX2/ goes to /data/. Only eboot.bin (and the source commit named in NOTICE.txt) changed since 1.8; every other file is byte-identical.

Updating from 1.8 or older: the PS5SX2 Installer does it for you. By hand: close PS5SX2 and replace only /data/homebrew/PPSA99203/eboot.bin. Keep your /data/PCSX2 folder: your settings, memory cards and save states are in it.

Checks:
