PS5SX2 1.51 (build vk-285-115): bug fixes from your logs

Thanks for all the session reports! Here's what they fixed:

Crashes

  • The "crash" report every time PS5SX2 closed with no game, or after a game failed to start, is gone: the app now closes the proper way.
  • Games that switch renderer for their videos (Ape Escape 2 & 3, 007 From Russia with Love, Final Fantasy X, Ace Combat and about 190 more) no longer crash after a few cutscenes.

Games that wouldn't start

  • "Failed to initialize GS" on consoles set up by hand: PS5SX2 now writes its flags folder itself and no longer runs out of memory there.
  • Missing shader files or a broken shader cache no longer stop games.
  • BIOS: also found in a subfolder of bios/, in /data/PCSX2 or on a USB drive. When there's none, a short message says where to put it.
  • Games are found one folder down too (games/<folder>/game.iso, or a folder on your USB drive).

Game fixes

  • Contra: Shattered Soldier, Gran Turismo 3 (PAL) and Castlevania: Lament of Innocence no longer freeze: MTVU is turned off for them automatically, whatever the file is called.
  • Live settings changes work again in games that need MTVU off.

New

  • Crop: cut 2 to 32 px off any edge of the picture, per game or for all games, in the shelf's settings (Square) and on the settings page. Handy for Shadow of the Colossus's border glitches.

Known issues (logs welcome!)
WWE SmackDown entrance slowdowns, Shin Megami Tensei Digital Devil Saga / Nocturne slowdowns, Neo Contra's dark screen, kernel panics in WWE All Stars (on exit) and Winter Sports 2. Clock Tower 3 (PAL) needs a retest.

Big thanks to Mihawk: PS5SX2 runs on a modified version of his Vulkan driver.

In PS5SX2-vk-285-115.zip: the same layout as 1.50. PPSA99203/ goes to /data/homebrew/ (eboot.bin, sce_sys/, sce_module/libc.prx), PCSX2/ goes to /data/. Only eboot.bin changed since 1.50; every other file is byte-identical.

Updating from 1.50: the PS5SX2 Installer does it for you. By hand: close PS5SX2 and replace only /data/homebrew/PPSA99203/eboot.bin. Keep your /data/PCSX2 folder: your settings, memory cards and save states are in it.

Checks:

  • eboot.bin sha256 345ffdf92a520e751818d468bea4a79778c6cfdea647d1105f836084560fa167, built from 8372d08 (this tag).
  • The same build ran on the dev PS5 Pro (firmware 11.40); its boot.log reads build=vk-285-115 and sources: driver 6a20943cc0, pcsx2 8372d08c7a.
  • Zip sha256 5592e4e60dee2e2a17c77086ce1f6eb75f8a9ea4095809de945bccfd089cefe2.
