Bloodborne for Windows 1.7.1: controller, online and VRAM fixes, The Hunter's Dream co-op

latest release: windows-v1.7.2

Fixes for the problems people hit after 1.7, plus a new way to play online.

Thanks to @Vorshim92, @andrecabralgit, @parsifal295 and @cassioKenji for the pull requests, and to @MaskZeus for bbbridge.

Fixed

  • Controller stopped working after updating to 1.7. If you opened the Controls page before starting the game once, the launcher saved an input.ini without any controller lines. That no longer happens, and a broken input.ini gets its controller and keyboard lines back by itself, so you don't need to delete anything
  • Online: nobody could connect. The public shadNet server now signs out any client that doesn't say which version it is (you'd see Login rejected error code 5 in the log). The game reports its version now and stays signed in
  • Crashes when video memory runs out (mostly 6 GB cards, where the log said something like memory pressure, 6333 of 2537 MiB). When the card is full the game now goes on using system memory, a bit slower for a moment, instead of crashing. Old textures from areas you've left are also freed when the card is really full
  • AMD RX 6000 cards crashing at the first frame with any upscaler on (Device lost during submit)
  • "GPU readbacks: Precise" hanging on a black screen at startup
  • A crash or force-quit while the game is saving can't damage your save anymore: the save is written to a copy first and swapped in at the end
  • Patches, mods and the weapon sound fix now recognise every region's version of the game
  • The in-game menu (Insert or L3+R3) stays on screen at lower resolutions

New

  • Play with bbhost players on The Hunter's Dream. In the launcher, go to Online co-op, choose The Hunter's Dream under Co-op pool and press Sign in with Discord. Enter the code the launcher shows on the page that opens and you're in. No shadNet account needed. This goes through bbbridge by MaskZeus, which the launcher starts and stops with the game, so you don't have to run anything else. There's also an option to show yourself on the live map at thehuntersdream.com/map
  • The old way (a shadNet account on srv.shadps4.net) still works, pick shadNet server for that
  • Quit game button in the in-game menu, so you can leave with a controller (press it twice)
  • The log now has a memory line every minute, which makes crash reports a lot more useful

If it crashes

Send the whole user\last_run.log file (not a screenshot of the last few lines), along with your CPU, GPU, driver version and RAM, and when it happened (at startup, loading an area, after playing a while).

Your Hunter's Dream account is stored in user\bbbridge\bbbridge_state.json. Don't share that file with anyone.
