Big one. Mostly crash fixes, plus keyboard and mouse support.
A lot of this came from people sending pull requests, so huge thanks to @d4rksp4rt4n, @andrecabralgit, @noatdk, @DUDUYG, @parsifal295, @ayozetr, @Jgamrot, @dGstone18, @jpramosjp, @T0ug, @FIocker, @cassioKenji, @Jhony-Jhansen, @Berleis, @pyL1nx and @Aljoscha-Ide. The mouse camera is imedved's work, ported by @mcrib884.
Crashes fixed
- Game crashing the moment you get hit on Intel 12th gen or newer CPUs
- VRAM filling up as you move through areas until the game dies (mostly 6-8 GB cards). If your log kept saying "0 images evicted", this was it
- Random crashes while playing (
write access to 0x8orread access to 0x20000) - Crash while loading an area (
SrtWalkerSignalHandler: Assertion Failed) - AMD cards crashing on every start with
Failed to create graphics pipeline: ErrorUnknown - Crash right after launch with some repacks and badly updated dumps. If your eboot.bin isn't the real 1.09 one, the game now runs at 30 FPS instead of crashing, and the log tells you why
- "Close the launcher when the game starts" breaking the launch (
Errno 22) - Game prep failing on Japanese, Chinese and Korean Windows
Other fixes
- Older Intel CPUs (2nd and 3rd gen, like the i7-2600 or i7-3770) can run the game now. It's best effort, a few rarely used instructions aren't handled yet. CPUs without AVX (a lot of Pentiums and Celerons) still can't run it, but you get a message now instead of the game just closing
- The character preview on the creation screen actually shows your character
- Sprint no longer gets stuck at half speed after bumping into something at high FPS
- The FPS patches set the physics step properly now (it was written to the wrong address)
- Smoother frame pacing when you use a frame cap
- Audio was way too quiet on stereo headphones and speakers
- Summoning with the bells works on the default server
- Mods work with Windows Developer Mode turned on
- Checkboxes and sliders in the in-game menu actually stick now
- A little lighter on the GPU (around 0.5 ms per frame)
New stuff
- Keyboard and mouse: rebind keys on the new Controls page, mouse look, and an optional 1:1 mouse camera. Heads up, Q is lock-on now and V is Triangle. Everything's in
docs/INPUT.md - The in-game menu (Insert or L3+R3) is in English now
- Text and voice language can be set separately, Brazilian Portuguese text included
- The Old Hunters works on base-game dumps, just point the launcher at your DLC folder
- Optional Japanese button layout (Circle to confirm) on the Cheats page
- Achievements page in the launcher
Requirements
You need an Intel Core 4th gen (Haswell) or newer, or any Ryzen. 2nd and 3rd gen Intel work with the fallback mentioned above.
If it crashes
Send the whole user\last_run.log file (not a screenshot of the last few lines), along with your CPU, GPU, driver version and RAM. Saying when it happened (at startup, loading an area, after playing a while) helps a lot.
Updating
Hit Update in the launcher. Your saves, settings, key bindings and mods stay as they are.
