1.23 - 2026-09-17

  • Microphones: add a persisted Web UI/API choice between the legacy ICS-43434/INMP441 Philips I2S
alignment and Adafruit SPH0645 MSB/left-justified alignment. Invalid stored/API values are
rejected or repaired, format changes restart I2S transactionally, and a failed restart rolls back.
  • Hardware safety: document that choosing the wrong format cannot damage the microphone because it
changes only receive-side bit alignment; incorrect wiring or voltage remains unsafe. SPH0645 was
tested by a contributor, but has not yet been physically verified by the maintainer.
  • Lifecycle documentation: identify the historical INMP441 EOL notice and the current TDK NRND
status of both legacy families, and recommend the available Adafruit SPH0645 path for new builds.
  • Stream health: retain the last stop across reconnects, with timestamp, stream and reason; show separate TCP stall, write failure/timeout and client disconnect/TEARDOWN counters in the Web UI. Counters cover all clients since boot.
  • RTSP cleanup: detect disconnected sessions without the contradictory WiFiClient boolean check, release their sockets, and count actual disconnects.
  • MQTT discovery: publish one retained message per second, retry a failed step after 60 seconds, and allow completion during continuous audio streaming. Discovery socket writes have a 20 ms budget; incomplete packets close the MQTT connection before retry.
  • MQTT status: clear recovered discovery/state errors and expose discovery completion separately from broker connectivity.
  • Release checks: pin build dependencies and provide a read-only GitHub/public OTA artifact equality check.
  • Validation: local checks and C3/S3/C5/C6 builds passed. Local C6 OTA tests on 2026-09-08 and 2026-09-17 passed; the earlier first-minute check reached 93 pkt/s and completed discovery with zero I2S/buffer/RTSP errors. Extended runtime and failure-recovery validation remain pending.
