Major Milestone: Jetpack Compose Migration

The app has undergone a complete architectural and UI overhaul, moving away from legacy XML-based layouts and Java-heavy logic to a modern, reactive Kotlin-first approach.

  • Material 3 Implementation: Fully adopted Material Design 3 (M3) standards, providing a modern, clean, and accessible user interface.
  • Complete UI Migration: All screens have been rebuilt from the ground up using Jetpack Compose.
  • Enhanced Home Experience:
    • Integrated a real-time OCR Accuracy display.
    • Added a Summary Card for quick result overviews.
  • OCR History: Introducing a dedicated History screen to manage and revisit previous OCR results.
  • Improved Language Management:
    • Redesigned Download Language Screen with search/filtering capabilities.
    • Added Status Badges to distinguish between selected and downloaded languages.
  • Image Sharing Support: Users can now share images directly from other apps into the OCR engine.

Technical Improvements

  • Architecture Migration: Moved to MVVM (Model-View-ViewModel) architecture for better state management and testability.
  • Kotlin Migration: The core application logic has been entirely converted from Java to Kotlin.

    • Implemented Room for persistent and observable OCR history data.

  • Legacy support for SDK 21 and 22 has been ended due to Jetpack Compose.
