VibeServer 5.6.5 — shared-dial limit enforced, countdown continues across reconnects, WebKit start notice

VibeServer 5.6.5 for macOS — signed and notarised. Also on apt for Debian/Ubuntu (arm64 and amd64).

Changed since 5.6.3

  • A shared dial's session limit is now enforced. On a shared-VFO receiver the countdown was shown to every listener and acted on for none: the enforcement walked a per-listener table that a shared dial never fills. Hard limits now end the session at the limit; soft limits hand over when the radio is full and somebody is waiting, longest-over first, with the same warnings, notice and two-minute cooldown as a single-user radio.
  • The countdown no longer restarts when a listener reconnects. On a shared dial the remaining time was read from the socket's own connection time, so a page reload or an app returning from the background was handed a full turn while the server kept the real one. Every socket now continues the turn already running for that address.
  • The Advanced RDS box no longer freezes when another listener leaves. The analyser was one switch for the whole radio and any decoder closing turned it off for everyone. It is now on while anyone is looking.
  • The START screen tells WebKit listeners about WebKit bug 263627, the open bug that can leave the audio silent on the first connection in Safari and every iOS browser, and that a refresh restores it.
  • The TIME UP card says what happened: your guaranteed time ended and the session was closed so the receiver is free; you can try again after the cooldown, though the receiver may be in use by then; a full turn starts again after the longer window. It no longer implies someone took the receiver.

From 5.6.3

Safari's first click starts the audio; the deviation meter holds beside a strong neighbour; DAB artwork on the Now Playing card; always-stereo Opus at 96 kb/s; uncompressed audio never sent through the Cloudflare tunnel.
