VibeServer 5.6.13-2 for macOS

VibeServer 5.6.13-2 for macOS — signed and notarised. Also on apt for Debian/Ubuntu (arm64 and amd64).

Changed since 5.6.13

  • SDRplay in DAB, measured against an RTL on the same aerial. With the same MER and the same raw error rate, the RSP1A was erasing a fifth of the frames the RTL decoded cleanly. Three things fixed it: in DAB the RF gain is now set from the converter and the IF loop's remaining room rather than the 30–50 dB IF window (a weak multiplex wants the front end as open as the converter allows), a gain state that trips the API's overload flag is not tried again on that block, and once the tuner's IF AGC has settled on a block its gain is held still, so no gain step lands inside an OFDM symbol. Everywhere outside DAB the gain works as before.
  • Layer II (MP2) services: the scale-factor CRC is finally in use. DAB protects the scale factors of every Layer II frame with its own CRC, and a group that fails now keeps the scale factors from the last frame where it passed instead of playing a corrupted set. That is the "bubbling mud" on a marginal MP2 service, on any radio. The DAB panel shows the groups concealed beside the Reed-Solomon row.
  • The radio no longer dies on a settings save or an idle release. A restart while DAB was on aborted the server (a thread torn down while a DAB exit was still running); a listener leaving DAB briefly counted as nobody listening and, with an instant idle release, the RSP was torn down and reopened on every DAB exit; two stream restarts four seconds apart could hang the SDRplay API service for good, and the close of a released device could crash under a reopen. All four are fixed: a ten-second floor between stream restarts and before an idle release, a locked close, joined thread starts, and, when the API service itself stops answering, VibeServer asks the maintenance helper to restart it. The VTS bar says what the recovery is doing.
  • DAB locks in seconds, not thirty. The phase-reference check that erases a burst-damaged frame kept a reference that fell slowly and was never reset, so a hop from a strong block to a weak one erased every frame, the FIC included, for up to forty seconds while the panel said "locked". The reference now re-anchors after five consecutive misses and is cleared on every re-acquisition, and a receiver that reports locked with no FIBs for four seconds re-acquires on its own. Measured on 10D: audio in 2.5 to 3.5 seconds on every entry.
  • Taking the radio back after an idle release retries for ten seconds and finds the RSP by serial; the API's device list can be empty for a few seconds after a release.
  • An admin session unlocks the menu's gain controls without the password box.
  • The DAB IF AGC target applies in either direction, and the setup copy says why one might raise it.
  • DAB through the API's decimation (owner switch on an RSP, off by default): 4.096 MS/s through the 5 MHz filter, decimated to 2.048 by the API, so the whole ensemble passes flat.
  • The directory keeps a server's friendly name across an unlist, and offers IQ48 as a filter with a note on what it is.
