VibeServer 5.0.0 — DAB and DAB+

macOS build of the VibeServer receiver app. Also on the Pi and other Linux boxes via sudo apt upgrade (apt.vibesdr.net), same version.

DAB and DAB+. VibeServer 5 receives Band III digital radio. Tune a multiplex (the DAB button in the browser client lists the UK channel plan, and the step buttons walk the multiplexes) and the station list fills from the ensemble itself: every service with its label, codec, bitrate and protection level, MP2 and DAB+ alike. MP2 is decoded in the server; DAB+ is handed to the machine's own decoder — on a Mac that is ffmpeg when it is installed (brew install ffmpeg), and the operating system's AudioToolbox otherwise. Measured on a captured multiplex, ffmpeg decodes every DAB+ frame and AudioToolbox refuses about a quarter of them on parametric-stereo services, so install ffmpeg if DAB+ matters to you. The signal pane tells you which decoder is in use.

What the multiplex tells you, shown as it is sent. Scrolling radio text on MP2 and DAB+ services; the RDS PI code, FM frequency and linked services each service carries for its FM twin; the ensemble clock and the receiver's local time from it; the transmitters heard by their TII codes, resolved to Ofcom sites with distance and bearing when the receiver knows where it is, and held on the list with a "not received" mark while one fades; station logos taken off air from the multiplex's own slideshow and service-information carousels, cached on the server so they are instant next time; FIB error rate, MER, signal-to-noise and the constellation for the multiplex you are on.

Stations learn themselves. Every service you have received is remembered as a DAB bookmark, the way FM stations are, and the bookmark button on the DAB card opens the list filtered to them. There is no scanner: the receiver learns the multiplexes you visit.

One radio, many listeners. A second browser joining a receiver already in DAB joins the same multiplex and picks its own service; nobody can pull the shared radio away, and the IF filter is pinned to the multiplex while it is being received so it cannot be narrowed by accident.

Needs a receiver that covers Band III at 2.048 MS/s — developed and tested on the RTL-SDR V3 and V4. Requires the 10.5 client or the browser client this server serves.
