VibeServer 4.0.0 — the public directory

A VibeServer can now list itself publicly, at vibeserver.vibesdr.net — a map and a list of receivers anyone can listen to right now.

A new section in the setup page: switch it on, give the receiver a public name, and it appears in the directory. The shareable address is derived from that name, the same way the .local name is — so you get a stable address like your-name.vibeserver.vibesdr.net that does not change when the server restarts.

• No port forwarding, and nothing to install. cloudflared is bundled — leave the address field empty and a Cloudflare tunnel is created for you. It is the only option that works behind CGNAT. Already have DDNS or a port forward? Put it in and yours is used instead.
• Temporary listings for a contest or a club night. When the time is up the receiver keeps running — it simply stops being advertised.
• Off by default. Nothing is published until you switch it on, and switching it off removes the entry straight away.

What the listing says

Your radios, what each can actually be tuned to, the aerial, how many people are listening, whether a PIN is needed, and the machine it runs on. All of it read from what the server already publishes, so it cannot describe a receiver that is not there.

Addresses are proved before they are shown: the directory challenges the server and checks the answer, so nobody can list somebody else's receiver under their own name.

• The directory is in the VibeSDR app, on the Apple Watch, and on the web.
• The public name is what visitors see; the .local name stays for finding the server on your own network.

Install: unzip and drag to Applications. Signed and notarised, so it opens without a Gatekeeper warning.
Linux: sudo apt update && sudo apt install vibeserver (arm64 and amd64, cloudflared included).

cloudflared is Cloudflare's own build, redistributed under Apache-2.0; its licence ships alongside it.
