VibeServer for macOS 11 B9 — prerelease

pre-release3 hours ago

V11 Beta 9 — a test build. It replaces Beta 8.

New

  • Connection Refresh in the Servers chip: "Use this if you are experiencing odd connection related issues, most can be resolved by simply refreshing the connection to the server." It rebuilds every connection to the current server without moving a shared dial.
  • Frame rate (Control Customisation → Faceplate), shown only on 90/120 Hz screens: cap the app at 60 Hz to save battery. 120 Hz stays the default, and 60 is a ceiling: the screen can still drop lower on its own.
  • Station bar (app and web): one scrolling line, PI: C363 / Station: RadioText. On a narrow web page the band label, the RDS logo and the flag step aside, in that order. DAB shows its own service ID (SId), never a leftover FM PI or the RDS logo.

Fixed

  • iPhone: silent audio after another app took the sound. The audio connection now reopens itself, and so does Android's.
  • The DAB stereo icon now shows the service's own audio mode instead of the last FM station's.
  • Advanced RDS scopes were empty on SDRplay RSP servers. Thousands of tiny sample blocks a second overflowed the measurement queue.
  • App admin login on multi-radio servers landed on the front page instead of the admin panel.
  • Faceplates:
    • Nixie tubes stand on the line beneath them, with their glow lowered to match.
    • The mode box keeps "USB: RTTY" (and every other label) on one line.
    • The wells around the main controls are softly backlit.
    • The analogue meter's peak needle is a solid blue line.
    • The station bar's left arrow matches the right one.
  • Server health: RAM no longer reads 100 % on Android 5.x servers.
  • Power: the app does much less work, especially in the background (CPU there ~24 % → ~2 % on our test device). The tuning drums had been redrawing every frame forever; the meters now rest when the signal is steady.
  • RTL-SDR (R820T/R820T2): after every tune the server reads the tuner chip back. If the chip disagrees with the dial (an unlocked synthesiser or a wrong divider), it logs it and retunes once. This is diagnostic help for a receiver that went deaf below ~100 MHz; please send logs if you see "TUNER CHIP CONTRADICTS THE DIAL".
