A major under-the-hood upgrade for iOS 27 — plus a batch of RTL-SDR / RTL-TCP fixes.
Why the big version jump
VibeSDR is now built on React Native's New Architecture. This was required to support iOS 27 / Xcode 27 — Apple no longer accepts builds made with the previous toolchain (ITMS-90111), so the whole app was modernised onto the new runtime. Everything you already use works the same; this is foundational plumbing.
Fixes & improvements
- Type-to-tune fixed (RTL-SDR USB + RTL-TCP, incl. iPhone). Typing a frequency now retunes cleanly the first time — it previously needed a nudge of the tuning drum to "take." A timing race in the on-device tuner has been eliminated.
- Per-source memory. Local Hardware and each RTL-TCP server now remember their own last frequency, mode and hardware settings (gain, sample rate, bias-T, etc.) independently — including VHF/UHF stations like FM, which used to reset to a default on reconnect.
- Plug-and-go (Android). Plugging in an RTL-SDR and choosing "Open in VibeSDR" now goes straight to Local Hardware instead of your default instance.
- Background audio on aggressive phones (Android). Some phones (e.g. certain Motorola models) background-restrict apps by default, breaking up local audio with the screen off. VibeSDR now detects this and shows you how to allow background usage.
- Swipe-away now fully closes the app (Android). Removing VibeSDR from recents no longer leaves it lingering as a media notification. (Fixes #6.)
- Tutorial no longer draws over the first-launch welcome screen.
