VibeServer Portable 11.0.1 (Raspberry Pi images, 64-bit + 32-bit)

VibeServer Portable 11.0.1 — a Raspberry Pi card image that boots straight into a VibeServer you set up from your phone.

  • vibeserver-pocket-arm64-…img.xz — Raspberry Pi OS Lite 64-bit: Pi 3, Pi 4, Pi 5, Pi Zero 2 W, Pi 500.
  • vibeserver-pocket-armhf-…img.xz — Raspberry Pi OS Lite 32-bit. The minimum confirmed spec that works well is a Raspberry Pi 2: it can host a shared VFO with everything except Advanced RDS and multi-station Radio Text on DAB.
You can try it on lower-end hardware such as a Pi 1 or Pi Zero and restrict it to the narrow HF modes only, and it may work — but your mileage may vary, and I cannot guarantee that it will run.

Flash with Raspberry Pi Imager (Use custom) or balenaEtcher. Checksums are attached.

Setting it up

  • Wi-Fi: on first boot the box raises an open VibeServer hotspot; join it and the setup page opens on your phone. Then put it on your own Wi-Fi, or let it run its own secured hotspot (no home network needed).
  • Ethernet (new): plug in a cable and open http://vibeserversetup.local:48000 from any device on that network. A Pi 2 or any board without Wi-Fi works wired-only, and a wired box can switch its Wi-Fi off entirely (with a clear warning that it is then reachable only by cable).

Updates without re-flashing (new): once set up, Install updates on the admin page brings the whole box up to date — VibeServer and the operating-system setup it needs. A new card is only for a brand-new box.

Includes VibeServer 11.0.1 (the same build as apt 11.0.1-1) and the High Detail maps.

New in 11.0.1: a phone hotspot whose name was typed with a different apostrophe (iPhone: "’") is now found; switching to a phone hotspot from the box's own Wi-Fi works; the server's .local name answers on the box's own Wi-Fi; squelch works at every level. A box already set up gets all of this from Install updates — no re-flash.
