VibeServer Lite 12.0.0 beta63 (93) — a V12 TEST build.
This is an early test of V12, not a finished release. Expect rough edges, and please report what you find. The current release is still 11.0.16.
Before you install
- It installs over Lite 11.x and keeps your settings, including its VibeSDR.net listing and address.
- Going back to 11.x needs an uninstall first, and that loses your settings — including the server's directory listing and its address, so a link you have shared stops working and the server is listed afresh.
- This build will not update itself. "Check for updates" does not offer later V12 test builds (or 11.x), so install the next beta by hand from this page. Lite 11.x will not offer this build either.
What is new in V12 (for the server and the web page it serves)
- New in beta63 — DAB pulls in weaker multiplexes: the receiver keeps more of a weak signal's detail for its error correction, so station names and audio hold on further into the noise. Strong multiplexes decode exactly as before.
- New in beta63 — NDB beacons named far better: 25 more beacons the public lists miss (Southend, Cardiff, East Midlands, Hawarden, Newquay, Merville, Weser, Belfast City, Londonderry, Beauvais and more), "Suspected X (not on list — confirm?)" for the rest, and the false EEI / ES / SE "beacons" (DGPS data read as Morse) gone.
- New in beta63 — NAVTEX fog signals: a foghorn icon for "FOG SIGNAL INOPERATIVE" warnings, and one combined marker when a light and its fog signal are both out.
- New in beta63: the shipping map on the web page opens fitted to everything heard, and the gallery's page buttons no longer vanish when you page back.
- New in beta61 — every VibeServer setting on the server screen: Background Decoding and the gallery, the whole SDRplay card (broadcast/DAB/AM notches, HDR, 24 MHz reference, VibeAGC, AGC targets, aerial by band), "Scan all DAB blocks", the impulse noise blanker and the Airspy HF+ calibration. VFO B and raw IQ settings now take effect on an ordinary Start.
- New in beta61 — tune keys that say where they go on the web page: in DAB, ISM and DIGI BAND the tune keys name the block or band they go to, with the current one bold between them.
- Broadcast FM defaults, set by you: the server screen has a BROADCAST FM DEFAULTS card — de-emphasis by region (or 50, 75 µs or off), which of ST, NR, IMS, CEQ, AUTO BW and NB start on, and whether each new listener gets these defaults or the last listener's settings. Listeners can still change them for themselves. Noise reduction now starts off.
- Names for your antenna ports: on a radio with more than one input, give each port a name ("Discone"); listeners see your names in every antenna selector.
- Decoders the radio cannot use are greyed, with the reason — a decoder on fixed frequencies the radio cannot tune (for example, a range locked to part of the FM band) says why instead of sitting silent. SAME is off by default outside the Americas and DAB off by default in the Americas; switching either is kept as your choice.
- VFO A/B: listeners can hear two frequencies on one radio at the same time, each with its own mode, filter and squelch.
- Known-signal labels: well-known utility signals in view are named with the decoder they want — RTTY, WEFAX, NAVTEX, DSC, FT8, VOLMET, the time signals and more.
- The shipping map: the NAVTEX, AIS and DSC maps are now one map in layers — ships, DSC positions, NAVTEX stations, warnings and weather — with a new SEA AREAS layer covering the UK, North America, Germany, Norway, Ireland, Spain, Japan and the southern oceans.
- Feld Hell (Hellschreiber): the signal is drawn into strips as it is heard, for listeners to read by eye.
- MFSK, Olivia, Contestia and Thor under one MFSK key: AUTO finds the sub-mode and names it; manual FAMILY and MODE settings sit underneath for when AUTO cannot lock.
