VibeSDR for Android 11.0.16 (596). Replaces 11.0.15 and keeps your settings.
A fully buffered waterfall
- Zooming keeps the history exactly as it was drawn while the new lines fan out or in on a quick curve — no slices, no stretching, no black. A station moving during a tune draws one smooth, solid trail. On a VibeServer the zoom buttons step in half-octaves.
- A steady clock: every line is on screen for the same time, so the waterfall flows evenly whatever rate the server sends.
- SPEED UP WHILE TUNING (on unless you turn it off, under the speed keys): while you tune or zoom the waterfall briefly runs faster, so a quick turn of the dial draws a smooth curve instead of a hard line. Touching any other control leaves it alone.
- WATERFALL SPEED has six choices, slowest to smoothest: MINIMUM (2 rows a second), LOW (5 — the old MINIMUM, and if you had MINIMUM chosen it comes back as LOW), ECO (10), NATIVE (the server's own rate, untouched — what was SHARP), DEFAULT (now 30) and SMOOTH. Each key shows the rows a second it draws on the server you are on. The speed only changes how fast the waterfall scrolls, never what the server sends, so the spectrum stays smooth; when the server sends faster than the speed, its frames are combined into each line, so a short burst is not lost.
- DATA — LOW, AUTO or FULL — is now its own control, in the SERVER section of the settings cog where Link Management was (your choice there carries over). LOW saves data, AUTO (the default) adapts to your connection, FULL is the server's full rate. OpenWebRX cannot be asked for less, so it is not shown there.
- Scale stamps: after a tune or a zoom, a thin copy of the old frequency scale, in your VFO colour and with the time it was taken, sits on the history where it changed and scrolls away with it — so you can always read what an older trace was.
- Tap an old trace and it tunes to that trace's own frequency, not to whatever is now above it.
- A big jump — a band change, a bookmark — keeps the history as it was drawn instead of clearing it, stamped like any other move.
- The waterfall waits for the sound on every speed but NATIVE: each line appears as you hear it, so a burst you see and a burst you hear line up, Bluetooth headphones included.
Fixes
- Signed in as a server's owner, the sound no longer drops for a moment every four minutes — the app was reconnecting each time it renewed your sign-in.
- DAB on a VibeServer stays put through a connection blip: it no longer switches to FM and back, landing you on a different multiplex or station; it waits a few seconds to see whether you are only reconnecting. This includes the app's own server mode.
- FM stereo on a VibeServer is steadier: one bad sample could leave stereo stuck as mush after a tune until you retuned; it now recovers by itself at once.
- Zooming out on an UberSDR no longer smears the history sideways.
- On a VibeServer, typing a frequency far from where you were no longer leaves the waterfall showing the wrong place, or a white band, for a few seconds.
- Ask before tuning: a listener waiting for permission can no longer move the radio by zooming.
- New VibeServer Portable cards check once for a newer VibeServer during setup, so a new box starts with the latest fixes.
Also carries everything in 11.0.15: the waterfall's continuous trail through a tune (GitHub #57), the EiBi season fallback, and rtl_tcp offset tuning.
