VibeSDR for Android now lives at net.vibesdr.app only.
- VibeSDR-11.0-RC27-555.apk — the app. All updates come here.
- VibeSDR-legacy-11.0-RC5-531.apk — the final build of the old app (
com.vibesdr.app), kept here so you can
still get your bookmarks out: its VibeSDR has a new home notice has an EXPORT MY BOOKMARKS button; in the new
app open the frequency card → BOOKMARKS → IMPORT. Then uninstall "VibeSDR (legacy)" — with both installed, Android
has to choose which app gets a plugged-in SDR.
V11 Release Candidate 27
Since RC26
- KiwiSDR: nearly half the public receivers would not connect at all. Every Kiwi behind the KiwiSDR proxy (
*.proxy.kiwisdr.com, 404 of 866 in the public list) is listed without a port, and the proxy only answers on 8073 — the app tried port 80 and was refused, then blamed the receiver. They connect now, and a receiver the app genuinely cannot reach says so plainly. - KiwiSDR decoders lost one audio sample in every packet (about 0.1 %), which slanted WEFAX charts steeply and sheared SSTV. They now get one continuous stream at the Kiwi's exact rate.
- Crash logs are easy to send: a small Export logs link on the server screen, the server list and About, with Copy or Share. Reports name the exact build, and VibeServer Lite now records crashes too.
- A WEFAX chart joined part way through is cut in its white border when a full-height frame sits each side of it (DWD).
In RC26 (since RC25)
- WEFAX auto-align is now conservative and worldwide. It only acts on chart formats it positively recognises — DWD's white border and header bar, the black margin strips used by the US, Japan, Korea and China, the Met Office margin — and otherwise leaves the chart exactly as received. Tested against charts from broadcasters around the world.
- A chart joined part way no longer picks up a slant from a box edge or coastline; a correctly phased DWD chart is never moved; Honolulu no longer borrows the Met Office's slant.
- A server no longer reports a crash while shutting down.
In RC25 (since RC24)
- Audio runs at exactly its true rate on every radio and mode. A rounding error had it up to 117 parts per million fast or slow on many radio and mode combinations, which slanted WEFAX and SSTV pictures.
- A decoder keeps its audio when your own connection blips — the server no longer pauses the radio under a running decoder.
- Fast SDRplay radios no longer drop slivers of audio (each listener's buffer now holds 40 ms at every sample rate).
- WEFAX auto-align takes a second look if the first finds nothing, measures each chart's own slant over a wider range, and a new chart never inherits the last one's adjustments.
In RC24 (since RC23)
- In DAB the zoom control goes dark, like an unused control on a real set — it still turns and clicks.
- The DAB meter's second line ("Clear audio" and so on) is larger and brighter.
- On the VCR display the gain reads in whole dB (the tiny decimal point made 40.2 dB look like 402).
- DAB transmitter sites now include Switzerland, Czechia and the Netherlands, from their regulators' open data (BAKOM, ČTÚ, RDI), credited in About; a server owner can add their own transmitter list.
- Two DAB decoder fixes (radio text read past its buffer; an unlocked audio buffer), and Linux servers write a short crash note to their own log if they ever fail.
In RC23 (since RC22)
- TVs and TV boxes keep their radio through standby. A TV whose USB ports power down in standby used to lose the dongle and, after five minutes, switch the server off for good. VibeServer now picks the dongle up again the moment it comes back, never gives up on a radio that keeps returning, and a new Keep radio alive switch (on by default for TVs and TV boxes) holds it awake.
- The waterfall follows the window again — on the Mac it could stay shrunk after closing the spots map until a control was pressed.
In RC22 (since RC21)
- On the VCR display every dB is written with a lower-case d, as a real display would.
- The SDRplay "AGC initialising" message shows on every start-up again — a radio that had gone idle could silence it for five minutes.
- VibeServer Lite and the app's server mode open their settings at once (they redrew for each of ~70 settings — a minute or more on a TV box), and the DAB quick scan always finishes: its result, or a plain "no answer" after 45 s.
Since RC15
DAB
- A reception meter replaces the signal bar in DAB — No signal / Weak (no or broken audio) / Moderate (occasional
break-ups) / Strong (clear audio). It judges the audio you actually hear: on DAB+ the audio units lost, on older
DAB stations the scale-factor errors that come out as "bubbling mud". A multiplex that lists stations but cannot play
now says so. The box beside it shows the multiplex's MER, and the advanced panel gains an Audio units row.
WEFAX
- Auto-align no longer cuts a chart that arrived straight; DDK charts are centred on their white border (equal white
each side) and DDK's slight lean is straightened. - ADJ is now MARGIN · SLANT · AUTO · RAW: tap MARGIN and drag the chart, tap SLANT for bigger keys you can hold,
AUTO goes back to automatic, RAW shows the chart exactly as received.
Servers
- Owners can list what their antenna covers and any filters fitted (setup page → antenna). Listeners are told when they
tune into a filtered band or outside the antenna's range, and the directory card shows them. - An SDRplay "AGC initialising" message can no longer stay up for good and hide RDS; a gain stage that does not
respond is logged.
Displays
- On the VCR display the mode, stereo rings, signal reading, kHz/MHz and the whole status row are drawn in segments,
with room for names like USB:RTTY; on the DOT display the same in dot-matrix, with real lower case. - The main controls and the station strip follow the display you chose (Nixie, dot-matrix, segments); menus, banners
and decoder boxes keep the standard easy-read font. - Recording breathes on the speaker key again (it had become a still outline in landscape and on the Mac).
- In landscape the server health and time tabs sit on the screen edge, and stay small on the side away from the
camera cut-out.
In RC15 (since RC14)
- Exit DAB now always leaves DAB. A late report from the server could reopen the DAB box a few seconds after
you left, and its EXIT then put you straight back in; EXIT now only ever exits, and the box closes with DAB. - A server set to start in DAB now starts in DAB when the app is the first to arrive — the app's own sound
connection made the server think someone was already listening, so only the web page was ever landed. - A new chat phrase beside "Sorry, didn't realise!": "Tuning back — I was listening to that".
- A server no longer stops abruptly while shutting down or restarting with an RTL dongle.
Everything in RC14
Decoders — measured on real off-air recordings, before and after
- WEFAX: every chart's slant is measured from the chart itself, so it is straight on any radio; DDK's white border
stays where it belongs, and a chart you join half way is cut in its border instead of wrapping; the status holds
"receiving" through DDK's long steady tone; a lost line is filled from the one above. - NAVTEX: a new receiver based on fldigi's (43 of 43 messages on a two-hour test, against 33 before), and a message
box — standing by, one message at a time with station, subject and how many characters were repaired or lost,
SAVE as a text file, and PREV / LIVE like WEFAX. - Time signals: shrug off lightning, combine several weak minutes into one time, handle leap seconds, tell WWV
from WWVH and show DUT1; the live line shows ?? instead of a wrong year while a minute is still unconfirmed. - RTTY: follows a drifting station.
- SSTV: PD-50, PD-90 and Robot 72 decode properly; pictures whose start announcement was lost are found; a
false start no longer swallows the next picture. - FT8: about 40 % more decodes, with extra passes only while the server has time to spare.
DAB
- In DAB the tune control is always the ‹ › keys, one multiplex per press, with the multiplex shown above them.
- A server set to start in DAB now does, and the station name clears from the display when you leave DAB.
Servers (VibeServer in the app)
- A server with one channel per listener keeps your audio and decoder running while the app is in the background,
and puts you back on your own frequency when you return. - Busy servers pace bursts of tuning so a small machine is never flooded.
- An Airspy HF+, Airspy R2/Mini, HackRF or RTL dongle that hangs or is unplugged now recovers by itself when it comes
back — or says plainly that it needs unplugging and plugging back in. - The admin page counts every CPU core a TV box has, not just the ones awake.
Everything else
- The icon and the Now Playing art follow your colour (Control Customisation → ICON & ART); the home-screen icon
changes when you leave the app. - Diagnostics now records an app crash (with private details removed) so it can be sent.
- Long-press a chat message to hide that user for the rest of your visit.
- A listed server's position is published as the centre of its grid square, as the privacy policy says.
