A redesigned Windows app, and Windows as a sender: extend or mirror your Windows screen to your other devices, not just receive.
Install: download BetterCast-Setup-Windows-x64.exe and run it. Windows SmartScreen will warn on first launch — the installer isn't code-signed yet; choose More info → Run anyway. It replaces an earlier BetterCast for Windows install automatically, so you end up with one BetterCast in Add/Remove Programs.
New
- A new app. Redesigned from the ground up, with a Devices page, a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, receive and send in one place.
- One virtual display per device. Each receiver gets its own display, named after the device, and you can remove any one of them on its own.
- The cursor shows on extended displays, and when mirroring your main screen.
- Far less flicker when connecting. Virtual display setup happens once, with a heads-up before it does, instead of on every launch.
- Scan-to-join hotspot. Turn on the hotspot and scan the QR code with your phone's camera to join — no typing a password.
- iPad gestures and Apple Pencil. Two-finger scroll and pinch act where you are, three-finger swipes switch Task View and desktops, and Apple Pencil arrives as a real pen with pressure and tilt (iPad app v19 or later).
- Clean uninstall. Uninstalling now removes the virtual display driver and the leftover displays earlier versions left behind.
- Update checks follow Windows releases. The app compares itself with Windows releases only, so it no longer points you at Mac downloads.
Known limitations
- Sending from Windows is in beta.
- Apple Pencil pressure and tilt haven't been tested on hardware yet — feedback welcome.
- Not code-signed yet.
