The last version you'll have to download by hand: from here on, BetterCast updates itself.
New
- Updates install themselves. BetterCast checks in the background, downloads the new version, checks its signature, and relaunches into it when you click Install. Check for Updates… is in the BetterCast menu, and you can turn automatic checks off in Settings > About.
- Type in any resolution. Choose Custom… under Resolution for screens that aren't 16:9 or 16:10, so they fill edge to edge instead of showing black bars (#62).
- Tell BetterCast a device's real screen size on its page, under Screen. It then streams at full sharpness, with a Portrait switch for devices that stand upright. iPhones, iPads and Android 1.4 report their size on their own.
- Pick a text size per device, from larger text to more space, with Retina on. The picture stays just as sharp at every size, and it changes instantly.
Fixed
- Audio and Smooth Motion are remembered for each device, instead of resetting every time it connects (#68).
- After your Mac's displays sleep, streams come back by themselves instead of staying black until you reconnect (#68).
- A screen you dragged to one side of your Mac stays there after it rotates or changes size.
- Older iPhones and iPads that can't decode H.265 get H.264 automatically, instead of a black screen.
- Reset Permissions works on any build of the app.
Notes
Coming from v21 or earlier: use Update Now in Settings one last time, then drag BetterCast into Applications. Every update after this one installs itself.
